An unusual request
Hello Riot. I'm not entirely sure if you read many of the posts on this board anymore, but I still post on it to hopefully add some ideas to your already vast collection of ideas. This one, however is a little off track.
Lately, I've been reading some disturbing stories about video game addiction and how some activist groups are thinking that perhaps regulating online video games is a step to curb what they view as just a different form of drug addiction.
I cannot deny, sometimes I want to do nothing else than play video games all day, and while I wouldn't necessarily argue that video games can be an addiction, I would also worry about people REGULATING how much I play video games.
That's why I'm suggesting that riot take the first step into curbing a problem. I suggest that riot add an optional feature in league of legends that allows a person to moderate how much time they spend a day/week or month playing league of legends. I suggesting adding a feature that, essentially allows oneself to ban themselves from league temporarily each day.
For example, this feature would allow a person to set a customized limit. example: No more than five games a day or no more than three hours spent on it a day. Something along those lines.
Also, perhaps adding a time filter on there, so that a person could only play between the hours of eight and eleven at night. Something along those lines.
The reason I suggest this is because I think it would really bring some interesting notoriety to riot, which is an already famous company, and might even be the first step in a chain of companies adopting any such regulations. Not only that, but that would allow video gamers to regulate how much time they spend on a game a day, and would keep the control with the player, not with a government body, which would be less concerned of personal playing of a video game, and more concerned over the broad spectrum (read: worse regulations).
For the time being, this is merely a suggestion, but I hope this idea gains enough traction that riot finally decides to implement something for the greater good of their player-base. I've always known riot to be a very down to earth company, and I've come to respect that feature of them more than anything else. I hope that someone takes the time to read this and passes it on. Until then, thank you for your time.
