Why is my client being updated when I already have the updated client?

It started downloading an 1008 MB update, The client says Step 1/1:Upgrading your client.

This happens when I launch the game from the old client, Which always worked, Since everyday, I've been launching league through the old League ICON, It opens up, I click Launch, And then the new client would start, Or I had the option of directly launching the new client through the new icon from Hard Disk (C:) in Riot Games file where you could find the file name ''LeagueClient'' with the updated icon.

So right now, If I launched the game through the ''LeagueClient'' with the updated ICON it would start repairing and be stuck that way, So my only option is to launch the old client with the old icon and let this update finish, I just want clarification, Thanks.
