Free Champion Rotation Indexabase and August 29th forecast

(Beep beep! Long post with no tl;dr ahead!) In recent weeks I gradually became more and more disappointed with the free champion rotation and made a thread about that. In said thread it was suggested I make a spreadsheet to track the free champion rotation. And while it had a few too many things to be a spreadsheet, the Indexabase is now established in the spirit of that.

I compiled it by counting everything whenever it came up, back to when I started playing in April. For instance, if there was an assassin+fighter and an assassin+mage on the free rotation I would count that as an assassin twice, and one fighter and mage.

Speaking of which, I first looked at character types. I found that the Fighter type is easily the most common, with sixty-five members. In second was Mage, with fifty-two. I thought that Marksman would have a similarly large roster(building on the fighter/mage/archer archetypes), but it was actually in last, with only 24 members. I also noticed two archetype combinations were easily the most common: the Fighter+Tank and the Mage+Support. For examples of those, look no further than the two most recent champions, Kled and Taliyah.

Next I looked at which character types were being represented each week on the free rotation. Again, Fighter was the most common, followed by mage. Assassin and Tank had a little more variation, each at times only having only one member represented, and like that ~~awful ~~ less than pleasant rotation a few weeks ago where there were six assassins. Another pointless interesting tidbit is that Marksman has only had two or three representatives each rotation.

THE POOL A large part of the problem I had with the free rotation was a perceived lack of diversity. My research revealed there were many more champions than I initially thought in rotation, but it also revealed there were definitely several frequent visitors. The bulk of the champions over the past twenty weeks have all appeared at least once(...) so I decided to note the champions that have appeared at least three times.

They are: Caitlyn, Jhin, Draven, Leona, Nami, Morgana, Vayne, Kalista, Tahm Kench, Braum, Taric, Karma, Thresh.

TYPE CASTING Instead of listing the characters themselves like the official announcement, I noted what types were being represented during each free rotation- again, I counted each type whenever it came up. Week 1 will be this week's free rotation, week 2 will be last week's, etc. (Key: A=Assassin, F=Fighter, MG=Mage, S=Support, T=Tank, MR=Marksman)

FORECAST FOR AUGUST TWENTY-NINTH I'm looking to make the forecast a weekly thing, where I'll share the Type Casting for the current and previous seven weeks, and take a look at the Indexabase and forecast who and what might pop up.

Assassins: Two or three might show up. After all the love they got a few weeks ago, I think the number in the rotation will go back down to their more usual level for a while, until the Assassin patches are completed and live. Be on the look out for: Ekko, Xerath.

Fighter: Fighters are almost always the best represented, but after the rotation released a few weeks ago, I think we'll see another four or maybe even three. Look out for Swain and Mordekaiser.

Mage: Three or maybe two might pop up, most likely three. With all the Support+Mages out there, I'd be expecting someone like Syndra or Lux.

Support: I'm expecting everyone's favorite character type to field two. Be on the look out for Taric, or maybe even Alistar or Zilean.

Tank: Tanks haven't fielded more than four in the period I noted, so I'm expecting them to only put out three this week. Keep a watch out for Shyvana and Gnar.

Marksman: I'm expecting three marksman characters after only two for the last few rotations. Look out for Tristana, Jinx, and everyone's favorite yordle- Teemo.

I admit to not being to very aware of the pro/competitive scene, so my character picks may be way off, as Riot has stated they want to get things ready for Worlds; so, the more popular/effective champions in the respective types might(or probably) show up instead.

I'm gonna go way deep on this next one. Riot stated that they intend to/probably will release another new champion in the next several patches, which is on par with their schedule. As we just got the two most common type combinations(Fighter+Tank and Mage+Support) it's highly unlikely we'll get another so soon. I'd expect the next new champion to be either an assassin, support, or marksman, but as we've gotten a Support+Tank and another Fighter+Tank within the last year I'd say it's most likely to be an assassin. And since Fighter are the most common type, the next champ would be an Assassin+Fighter. But who knows! :)
