How did playing your main affect your play style and attitude?

Sion

Ever since I started playing this big guy I've adapted a balls to the walls play style of leading the charge and always trying to skirmish and brawl. Those cowards should just stand and fight and not try to avoid me >X<

I WANT to go in 1v5 if my team's going to follow up, I don't even care if I die as long as we're going to win the fight! Glory in BATTLE

Playing Mordekaiser ever since I started made me develop a deep hatred for any form of mobility outside of the occasional speed buff. I can just feel veins pop on my forehead every time a low health enemy chickens out and uses his mobility to escape death's embrace.

Or being cowards and not fighting, trying to avoid me at all cost. This is why I also dislike being AA's since it's simply them using their superior range with no effort attached to harass you. More reasons not to play Mordekaiser bot ^^''

It also increased my map awareness and "paranoia". I ward a LOT for a top laner and usually memorize where the enemy jungler was last seen in order not to die miserably in a gank.

And finally it made me want to play aggressive and brawl as often as I can. A good offense is the best defense and as a top lane main I like going toe to toe with my lane opponent in this isolated location.

You can keep your farming duo laners, your poking Mid laners, I want to have some fun and butt heads with other fighters^^

Sona Soraka back in my noob days

Basically, I learned how to position and use map awareness because everyone pre-30 played nothing but Thresh and Blitzcrank, anyone and everyone could instagib me, and to abuse people's perceptions by playing tanky Sona and watch everyone try to instagib me with their ults and laughing as everyone else took care of the rest.

I'm also like a sassy mother when it comes to ADCs. You may be the child in the early game, but this whole team is my family and if you think I'm going to babysit your AD ass all game, you got another thing coming when the laning phase is over because momma didn't raise no quitter.

I wouldn't call her my main by any means (I'm a fill main), but she is one of my favorite junglers. But, since I started playing her, I've been paying a lot more attention to positioning (them wall stuns), and analyzing peoples' kits and CDs for when to use my W and all that -- I can apply these to every other champ I play too, even with different kits. Every new champion I try, I learn new tricks and playstyles that help me perform better and better. ^^

Nasus

I've gotten used to adapting to and surviving against all kinds of lane bullies, manipulating minion waves to freeze for extended periods of time, last-hitting under tower with minimal AD, and split-pushing properly (maximum distraction, minimal deaths).

As a side note, his voice is quite soothing to listen to.

Leona Braum Sion Thresh Yes I'm a tank-support main. I tend to shift between two fairly distinct playstyles. If we have a divey team with a advantage in fights I will usually go for initiates and just dive straight into the entire enemy team man mode style, trusting my team to follow up. If we're behind and the enemy team have a strong dive composition, or just a fed assassin killing our backline I will just sit on top of our adc and blow everything to try to keep them alive.

Karma - Due to the extreme poking nature of Karma, playing her taught me how to play super carefully, while still being helpful to my teammates. I used to play much more carelessly, but after using Karma for so long, I've learned how to play smarter and more efficiently.

When I mained Jinx I had a tendency to get overzealous in doing risky things. Her passive generally got me excited too and I'd often keep chasing after more kills/objectives when I shouldn't because MORE MAYHEM! It was really fun even if it wasn't always tactically sound

Rengar Shaco Talon killing makes me whole oh but shaco is the best though, I like to messing up with people jungle. One day someone picked talon jungle when i was shaco jungle. I kept invading his jungle, in the 3rd invade, I died because he learnt. Then he walked to his turret with 20 hp left, not knowing I placed a box near it. Until know, I can't help but thinking what expression he was making when killed by my box, haha!

RekSai top

I play hyper aggressively, confident I can win battles or nope out of them. I barely ward because tremor sense combined with defensive tunnels means I like jungle ganks, wastes enemy jungler time. i have gigantic map presence as I have both ult and TP for getting around. All in all, kill or be killed, and it's usually kill.

I always want to be skirmishing and going for short trades with my opponents, and in general justing hitting whatever comes near me harder then it hits me. After playing several games as this guy in a row I tend to stop carrying that annie and orianna ults exist, but It really throws my lane opponents off that I want to be skrimishing at all times possible, has it ups and downs; get ganked a lot, stop noticing things I should, but gives me small advantages and greater ability to execute on small over extensions.

KogMaw Has really made me play cautious and try to avoid fighting until I can get item 3124. His playstyle is also counter-intuitive to orb-walking knowing how his key feature is sit there and dish it out to everyone.

I'm not afraid of trading anymore in small teamfights, and I'm fine with death when I have my main two items. I know I will kill at least one person, if not more, for just my own death. I'm also not afraid of dealing the least damage anymore, because I know I help my team push to victory!

But the one downside about playing KogMaw is that I've become more upset and frustrated if I fall behind in the early game, because it delays my ability to aid my team.

Udyr As much as I dislike Trick2g, I absolutely love that playstyle. Just fuck around and tilt the enemy. I'm more chill and ready when I play Udyr compared to any other champion.

"HI! I am a hardcore Riven main and this has caused me to become the most toxic player in the entire NA region! I flame my team every game with vulgar language. They are all garbage in my eyes and I obviously deserve challenger if it weren't for the noob team I get every game! If I lose lane, it's because my jungler sucks and didn't gank my lane and totally not because I got outplayed by a player that's more superior to me in both mechanic and match-up knowledge. I never miss my ultimate unless the enemy is scripting. I always wall hop correctly and always use animation cancel because I watch BoxBox."

TYPICAL RIVEN MAIN STEREOTYPE.

Nautilus Get over here! Oh you want to go away nope! You will never move or get near my ADC. Ha ha.

Seriously I love this guy. He can go just about anywhere, even mid if you're feeling ballsy. You need to know lane matchups to play him top and oddly enough I find landing his hook in ganks much harder than in lane. But he has so much CC, and so much utility that he can be basically all the crowd control on a team. He's not as good as a bodyguard as Lulu , TahmKench, or Volibear in terms of guarding one person but he can be the bodyguard for 3 people at once.

He made me much better at landing skillshots, as well as positioning on the frontline. He also helped me learn how to peel for my carries and (since he's a decent initiator) when to take a fight and when not to. Since I primarily play him as a support he helped me learn how to identify the major carries of any game and how to support them. He also taught me the value of wards.

The only problem is I don't have the first clue how to play fast squishies.

Shen When i first played Shen , i sucked, a total mess. After continuing I got alot better, and even managed to make him my best champ. Every time I play him i jump into 2v5s to help my teammate escape when they try to get him and then escape myself thanks to insane tankyness. Of course i get very cocky playing Shen, but no matter who i do in the beginning tahnks to my cockiness(usually bad), i tend to bring it back around my way.

Zed i usually snowball the first 30 minutes of the game, get super cocky, look at the score and realize the rest of my team was feeding the entire time, then lose game :( i cri.... but then again nothing beats the rush i feel when deleting squishes from the game.

Anivia This girl has been my girl for a long time now. First champion (besides Ashe...let's not make that count) that I ever mained. This has made me a much more patient player. I'll tend to wait and see how the enemy moves, then chose the exact moment I want.

Diana Although I started League at the end of Season 3, I never picked up Diana until mid Season 4. It changed my playstyle and skill range in three ways. Without an escape, I found myself relying a lot more on ward coverage and minion wave control to keep myself in a position that doesn't lend itself to unnecessary risk. I also learned how to "stat check" and figure out exactly how long it would take me to kill every enemy I met. The most important skill I learned was playing on the back foot. Since Diana is weak early, especially in the Jungle where I usually played her, I would almost always start weaker than my opponent. Sometimes I would die a couple times pre 6, oftentimes I would be behind in jungle objectives and lane pressure, but I learned how to reach my power spikes and wait for an enemy to make that crucial mistake that gets me back in the game.

Catastrop1/2/2016, 10:28:13 PM1 votes

In my time playing League I've had 3 mains so, in order, they are:

Pre-Placements: Ashe (LolEveryonemainedAsheatsomepoint) Playing Ashe, ironically, taught me to be relentless and without mercy. Enemy in range? A HAIL OF AUTOES ENSUES. Running away? SLOW AND CHASE. Pre-Cinderhulk: Sejuani Sejuani. My first proper main whom I took into ranked. Yet again, a fit of irony happened, as Sejuani made me play much more... Protectively. See an ally in danger? FLASH-Q-R and save the shit out of them. Such things. Post-Cinderhulk: Veigar ... Exactly what you'd expect. I've gotten better at doing evil laughs as I press the Delete button. I also grew a certain fondness for caging enemies and exploding them with complete and total overkill. BECAUSE THERE'S NO KILL LIKE OVERKILL!

Aaaaand I'm suspecting that in this season, Poppy is gonna make the list too, along with potentially Taric once his rework comes out!

HAIL WHYDRA1/2/2016, 4:54:00 PM1 votes

KogMaw Pre-Rework ap Kog had auto attacks that dealt damage equivalent to cotton candy slapping a solid brick wall.

Bard When I first started playing Bard, I was a total mess. I prioritized chimes over everything and took magical journeys straight into the opposite team. As I played more, I got better at avoiding those two issues... And also a few other things, as well. Playing Bard has taught me when a support (or any laner for that matter) should leave their lane, and when they should stay. Even a few seconds can be the difference between your ADC getting caught out. Unless your laner is in a VERY safe position, then leaving to ward while picking up chimes isn't safe whatsoever. I also learned to always be watchful for opportunities to engage. Since Bard's Q hits as a stun whenever it hits two units, it's very beneficial to hit a minion first before hitting their ADC. Since most ADCs don't expect the Bard Q to do directly into the wave while still hitting as a stun, it's important to always be watchful for engage opportunities. Lastly, it's taught me how to bait. Magical Journey is the ultimate baiting tool. PSA: NEVER follow a Bard through his tunnel, no matter how tempting it may be. You will be stunned every time, guaranteed.
