Why there is no NA Est Server?

there is a clear evidence that ping actually influences elo, and NA isnt small enough to have a single server at the west edge of the country. Ping for east players is almost as high as Korean players who used to play on NA server when they did not have server of their own... thats kinda sad :( we are living in different continents yet we still get about similar pings

Is there a plan to make NA East Server? or should we just play with bad lag?

p.s. sorry if my bad grammar offended u, but i am not really English major and dont really care for it... just a game player who want to play lag free game.

I'm a NA West player. I slightly agree with this. I have some friends who are to the east of the US and they do have small ping issues (90-200 ping). However this may benefit the NA East players it would make it difficult to play with my NA East friends. Would that mean that I would have to convert to NA East and suffer similar ping issues? Of course if you mean a super server that would separately host for NA West and NA East players but still allow cross server communication and such then by all means I support this.

Summary: While I do like the idea, there would a detriment to those who have friends in the East of NA should they have their own server.

As a East Coast player I can say that lag here (compared to West Coast) is awful. By 'awful' I mean 120-250 ping vs 20-30. So, considering that my ping is usually higher than my reaction time I'd say it's DEFINITELY a disadvantage.
HOWEVER, I also DEFINITELY do NOT want to be on a different server from my West Coast friends. But I would really, really, like to see Riot do SOMETHING to address this issue. Additionally, I have friends in Canada who say it's even worse there, and I'm not in EUW so I really can't complain too much.

Also, am I the only one that notices that lag is usually much worse immediately after a patch? Any ideas why that is?

Alright, so I'm probably going to get flak for this, but here goes:

The smallest factor in measuring ping is physical distance. Data travels from Point A to Point B stupidly fast, with distance being almost a non-factor at terrestrial scales.

One of the larger factors in measuring ping, however, is "hops," or stopping points between the two ends of the connection. Traveling from A to B may be incredibly fast, but going from A to Z takes significantly longer.

There has, traditionally, been a correlation between the two: the further apart your start and end points are, the more hops are required to bridge the gap, which increases ping.

Part of Riot's solution to the ping problem is - rather than splitting the region in two - working with ISPs across the nation to build better backbone connections for League, thus drastically reducing the number of hops (and thereby negating significant parts of the "distance lag"). They're currently in the process of this.

There is no clear evidence that "ping actually influences elo". Correlation =/= causation. I think people need to realize this.

While I don't disagree with your post, I don't like how you put forth your argument. Your play effects your elo. If I was better, I could probably be Diamond like my friend that lives right down the road. He plays with the same ping. I also don't want to split the country and only be able to play with east coast players. You are also creating an unfair play for people in the middle. Why should your problem be fixed, but not give the same to mid country players? Seems selfish OP.
