Matchmaking
After a long set of ranked the previous day, I figured I would wind down from the ranked grind by just playing a few norms and then getting back into ranked later. But when matchmaking was done and I was in the loading screen after what seemed like a successful ban/pick phase, I found myself against many plat players. As a current silver, I did not have a good time, nor did my teammates all sitting at gold or lower. After those two games, I found myself upset about the matchmaking system. Not only were they plat players, but they were almost all premade compared to my team of maybe a duo and then all randoms. Even though this was in a norms game, a lot of high elo players that I watch, whether it comes from a stream or a YT video, complain about the skill gap between masters/challenger and diamond in solo/duo queue. It's all become a meme at this point. Even though I don't follow discussions, the League YT channel, or the League Twitter avidly like some others, I feel like there is a disconnect overall and voices aren't being heard in their entirety about this. But there's also the possibility that I'm just out of the loop and that overall matchmaking is balanced. Even then I feel like the "Diamond IV", or II or diamond overall, meme wouldn't be that big of a thing for very high elo players.
What do you think?
- Matchmaking is fine as it is.
- There is a lot that needs to be worked on to be good.
- Maybe a few slight changes are necessary, but nothing more.
I would've made this a poll, but Boards crashes whenever I try to post a discussion with a poll.
