Would adding this feature to Tribunal help?

Disclaimer: I am not a programmer so some of this may be pure hogwash and ignorance but I will attempt to explain it in the best layman's terms I can come up with. This thread is meant for discussion of both pros and cons of the suggestion listed below. Please feel free to correct any misconceptions I may have about the current or suggested system.

Under the current Tribunal System the following applies:

  1. If a report is generated Tribunal reviewers can only vote on the outcome for the player the report was generated against.

  2. Some players will file a counter report against those reporting them.

  3. Some players rally others to file multiple reports for the same player, and sometimes it is even abusive players who try to exploit this function.(which we know does not really enforce more punishment.)

  4. While the player who has been reported might show some sings of stress or even rage, often cases are presented where their own team members or enemy players behave far worse.

So here's my suggestion:

Reports by game ID. When multiple reports are filed in a single game against a single player they are all categorized together under the same game they originated from thus to my knowledge each game already has its own ID assigned so that those reports can be filed back to it accordingly. Not sure of this but to me it is the logical conclusion. Or instead of a report player button by each champ after game there is simply a report game button near the top of the after game statistics page.

Therefore...

  1. Using the game ID when a report/s is/are filed the reports are categorized (as they currently are) under that particular game regardless of who the reports are against.

  2. Instead of the report now being against a single player in that game all players actions are up for review. (Thus effectively the game has been reported and not several different players thus creating a lower amount of reports having to be stored/filed/cataloged.)

  3. Instead of showing just the team of the player who was reported both sides are now represented. (All players in that game)

  4. Beside each champion are the following (suggestions very welcome for these) check boxes:

    A. Helpful [ ] (This could be honorable, helpful, teamwork, leader, basically meaning this person tried to keep the drama to a minimum and the team focused on their true goal)

    B. Neutral [ ] (Or innocence meaning they did not appear to partake or choose either side of the issue.)

    C. Pardon [ ] (They did something against the code but it was minor or perhaps misunderstood. Same as it is now basically.)

    D. Punish [ ] (Same as it is now)

    E. Ban this POS [ ] (Ok I am joking here but I know some people who would love this.)

Now every player's actions are subject to review. The reports still wouldn't list the player's names only their champ's names but the process would work the same. The helpful check box could be used to reward those players who actually do try to keep everyone calm and focused by giving them more teamwork points for their ribbons or something similar. The neutral box would be for those players who might not have said a thing all game or did their best to stay positive but did not do anything to try and calm the situation. (A sort of Skip in a way) The pardon button would be the same but it might flag the player for future reference in a behind the scenes type of thing that other tribunal users could/or couldn't see.(Whichever works best.) The punish button works just like before where that players actions flag him for punitive action.

This may or may not help but to me the cons to this are that now all players actions are up for review. I review and judge cases to the best of my ability within the guidelines of the Code. But the fact is most of those cases yes the player reported slipped or made some really bad choices but they are by far not the worst of the lot. (I can no longer get away with reporting a player who I trolled, the entire game, into rage quitting without my own actions also being punishable.) I really think that by the games themselves being reportable:

  1. Those who make mistakes will be under much more pressure to be careful of their actions.

  2. Trolls will be less likely to generate reports thus cutting down on the amount of reports filled.(Or at least filed erroneously.)

  3. Those who simply don't give rats ass will be banned even quicker.

TLDR: Suggestion: Make games reportable not players and all players in that reported game are now up for review on their actions during that game.

I would love to see changes to the tribunal. As someone who is usually supportive (but not too great) I end up taking a lot of flak and even being made fun of for being positive. The pros and cons of this are very relevant, but I think this system will be much better. If this system were implemented we might actually lose our reputation as one of the worst communities on the internet...

I think this idea has potential. It is, however, a huge paradigm shift. I wonder how much people are willing to be under scrutiny to keep other people in check. For example, if one of the players in my game is acting up, I might be a little uncertain about reporting the match if I had lashed back at the player, or even done anything that could be perceived as negative ("refusal to communicate" accusations come to mind here).

I think the larger picture effects of such a huge change are very hard to predict, so I would expect that Riot would spend a significant amount of time researching that before announcing or trying to implement such a feature, and if it turns out that such a feature is not feasible, it wouldn't be much use to announce it then either. Who knows, maybe they've already got some plans to address problems like this.

I think this is a great idea, combined with my idea of forgiving LP loss due to such behavior and other players causeing the game to go badly.

For example, First 2 min of a game bot lane is argueing constantly and lose the lane very quickly because they constantly blame each other, and then they both lash out at say top lane because top lane asked them to calm down. and then they say "Fine im just going to feed" then you see 13 deaths little CS behind by 2 or more levels of the average player. You can pretty much tell they threw the game on purpose.

Or even a simple case of the AFK player. Eng of game they are still low single digit level. That player should suffer the LP loss, and the rest of the players on the loseing team should get LP back, or basily a Loss Prevented.
