Prefessor-Doctor @RiotLyte,

Can you please elaborate on the methods used when issuing 2 week bans for toxicity? I recently was banned for 2 weeks for toxicity, and fair enough- I'm not here to contest that ruling per-say, I just have some questions regarding it.

Firstly, I wasn't even aware of that I could be banned before receiving a chat restriction . Granted, League as a community shouldn't need a stepping stone set of warnings, however, with the assumed purpose of chat restrictions being to stop toxic behavior I'm unsure why this option wasn't implemented first hand. Has this method been abandoned?

Secondly, the Email I was sent. Again, I'm not here to contest the the ban, Some of what was said was indeed toxic and I have to face some kind punishment. That said, some of the things that were flagged are questionable. Some examples of what I consider questionable flags are: "why stay" "that has to be intentional" "gg" "should be" "same" "tried" "agreed" "can you just pick a lane and push it" "why would I gank when 'I could die'"(as i proceeded to gank, a reference to what that lane had said about not leaving lane to help a teammate) "gg report bot lane", which was for feeding(2-10), which is a report-able offense.

Now, the last two in my book may be a little on-the-knuckles but not toxic. I would like some insight as to why these were flagged as toxic behavior, as the vast majority of these I do not consider so.

Just to reiterate- I'm not crying for a reversal of the ban, even if I do consider it far too harsh as I have never received a chat ban. Just some clarification to the process so I can better understand why I did not get the lesser punishment first.

Regards,

Faulcon

Prefessor-Doctor @RiotLyte,

I'm not Lyte, but perhaps I can help.

While there's no "stepping-stone" approach to punishment (at least not since the Tribunal was taken down), there are still a variety of punishments used for various situations. Ranked Restrictions, for example, are issued to those who exhibit moderate toxicity in Ranked games.

Chat Restrictions and Time Bans represent the two extremes of the Player Behavior sanctions. Chat Restrictions are generally used for minor levels of toxicity (enough to be punishable, but only just), whereas Time Bans are used for the greatest levels of toxicity (extremely consistent toxicity, or specific heinous actions such as hate speech or death threats).

What you were sent was a complete log of everything you had said in the game that triggered your case. It's important to note that not everything in the log will be toxic, nor does that single log represent all of what led to the punishment. It's both very possible and quite common for there to be a fair amount of neutral (or even positive!) messages in the log - as evidenced by some of what you noted.

As a side note, however, calling for reports is frowned upon, and the line "can you just pick a lane and push it" seems somewhat negative - there's probably a better way to put that.

Just to reiterate- I'm not crying for a reversal of the ban, even if I do consider it far too harsh as I have never received a chat ban. Just some clarification to the process so I can better understand why I did not get the lesser punishment first.

If you'd care to share your log, I can perhaps offer some specific thoughts on what may be of concern, and what may have led to a ban, rather than a chat restriction. Otherwise, the general thoughts above are the best I can do - though if they are unclear, I can certainly try to clarify them.
