The list goes on, I digress. I say this not to intend to insinuate anything about myself, perhaps only to provide some background.
So, some of you younger "whipper snappers" may have no idea what the above even meant, that's fine, this conversation is more about culture.
There's a lot of the word 'toxic" thrown about, the word "salt", a lot of smug remarks that are supposed to mean no offense but are typically everything but inoffensive...
Anyways, I'd like to address this. I'm not going to presume anything about any of you, suffice to say that I'm not sure if you would've survived in my era.
Believe what you may, think what you may. I'm not sure if you lost your mute button, or if you'd never skimmed over just about any culture-based internet board (I'm looking at you mainly, /b/)., but whatever.
Look, the idea was nice, the general idea. But you've all taken the thing entirely too far. The guy who teased me on the internet generally has never bothered me. The guy who cries and tells on everyone, though, kind of does.
This isn't to start some type of flame war, this is meant to be constructive, though I'm not sure that you'll take it this way. You're the only internet and gaming community that I've ever met that requires to be babysat in order to function.
There are other games of the same exact genre that are fine that do not do this. I like this game, the design is amazing the game play fluid and very gripping. But the issue to me is the community, but not for the reasons you might think.
There's a lack of drama, lack of quarrel, a lack of soul really. There's little to no humor, well - let's not go this route.
I guess I just find the community rather bland. When I'm surfing Reddit or Team Liquid, I'm usually laughing, etc. When I surf these and I hear x say y was a c and then read a bunch of "you're mean" replies, not only does it make me feel ancient, but a bit embarrassed.
If you can't handle the banter, fine, don't handle it. But really, do you want to be remembered as the community on the internet who couldn't handle the banter? I mean, it's almost 2017, and even AOL did away with chat room hosts like, 20 years ago?
I can see your argument and I agree, let's all be civil, it's just a game. So, if I can give you that much, could you admit to me you could maybe just have a stronger spine sometimes?
Feel free to discuss.
