This guy (or gal) made my day
I fed. Everyone has off games. This is my story from earlier today:
- I lock in Veigar support and my team already groans. Except for my ADC.
- We get into the game and I walk to lane.
- My computer goes into kernel panic & freezes (even though I have 32GB of RAM, like wtf)
- I die almost immediately.
- Caitlyn tells me "It's alright man, I know how that feels. We can still do this!"
- Now that I'm trying to compensate, I give up a few more kills botlane. I'm 0-4-1. (Did I mention support isn't my strongest role)
- Caitlyn expresses her disappointment but keeps a positive attitude. She gives constructive criticism.
- Our top and mid lanes are flaming and asking the enemy team to report me.
- Caitlyn defends ME, the 0-5-4 Veigar support. "Everyone has off matches. Please stop being so toxic" And redirects the conversation to securing dragon.
- I openly point out where I messed up and flat out say "I get that you're frustrated with me and you have every right to be, but telling me I'm trash doesn't make me play any better."
- Our entire team morale shifts.
Fast Forward 35 minutes We win the game and I finish 4/15/16
Yeah, I kept unintentionally dying. I was making really amateur mistakes. I was mostly playing League to escape the reality that my best friend of 11 years had moved to the other side of the world. I was distracted as heck and felt bad for dying so much. I really shouldn't have been playing at all. I apologized to my team, asked what they'd like me to do, and did it. By the end of the game I was landing every stun, kiting an ulting Olaf, and securing objectives left and right. We won because of Caitlyn.
I'll admit I'm not the best about staying positive in games, but this has been a wake up call for me. Next time you have a feeding teammate, don't insult them. Stand up for them, encourage them, and stay positive. Being mean doesn't change the way someone plays. Sure, you might still lose, but at least you took the high road. You should still be proud of yourself.
Thank you for reading, and thank you @wunderwulf. You made my day.
