A Reminder For Those Who Play League of Legends
Story Time. (and yes, I am recently coming from a game and have gone full salt.) After play game after game yesterday I was 1 for 1 in my Silver III promos (I'm not that good, I know) and I had time for one more game. I lost that game, but I felt that I deserved to lose. My team and I did not perform as well as we could and I did not communicate enough. I agree, that game was partially, if not, fully my fault. After that, I slept and woke up the next morning. Heading off to school, I was pumped to get home and play my last game. After warming up in a couple of matches to get used to the new patch, I began my journey to play my last ranked game. I queued up and was mentally pumped for this match. In my lobby everyone called a lane and we all got what we wanted (Hallelujah). After loading on the rift our adc, Tristana, informs us that she is sorry, but she is late to class and has to go. Minions haven't even spawned yet. Now I was in no position to tell her to skip her class, because I understand that she needs to be responsible and get a better education because if you don't then you are not going to have fun in life. However, if you are ever playing League of Legends, please make sure that you have the time, even if the game runs long (I've had 70 minute games before). I understand that you want to get that game in before you go and have a stressful day of whatever you are doing, but remember how you are going to impact others as well.
Now I could sit here and rant about how terrible the ranked system is and how I should at least get my promos back, but the more and more I write this post, the less mad I get about the situation. If League of Legends is ever making you frustrated (we all know it does from time to time), then take a break and write down what the problem is. To be honest I was going to write a Giant rant on this story and how much I hate this person, but I feel much better now. It sounds cheesy, but seriously it's a nice cool down from the situation. Do I really forgive this Tristana, no, in fact I haven't even finished the story.
After telling us this, something inside of her makes her stay. So I started jungling and helping the best I could in lanes. I finally thought that this Tristana was going to skip class for this, when we had our first team fight. She jumps into all five of them. I brush is out, maybe it was just a misunderstanding. But then is happens again, and again afterwards. I start becoming skeptical about Tristana, and the rest of the team finally finds out why she is doing it. She starts a surrender. The surrender fails. She then starts bashing me and their bot lane about how terrible we are and how their jungler, Jarvan IV, pushed me around all game. First of all, their bot lane was very good and I gave them honor. Second of all, J4 ganked once and we did not see him until I had successfully ganked top once, mid three times, and bot two times; every time either burning one of their flashes or getting a kill. After all the failed teamfights, it became hard to even fight at all after that point. We began hiding behind towers, but that was enough to stop them. Or Tristana.
We did eventually lose the game, and we all exchanged our gg's and headed on our way. I'm not going to be ashamed of saying that I did report Tristana (It seems that every gets ridiculed for reporting anyone for anything other than afking now a day.) But within that part of the story lyes my final thing that I believe all League players need to remember. Do not flame at other because you or mad, or even if they are doing poorly in game. This will only escalate the situation, and then you can also become legible for being reported if you take things too far. If someone is playing up to par, address the problem nicely. Try and give them some advice (P.S. if someone is giving you advice, do not take it as an insult and bash them. They are only trying to help you get better) and see if that helps them. If we worked together to help each other get better, then we don't have to flame at people for being bad and we can win more games. It's a Win Win. Win.
Remember these and we can make League of Legends a less toxic world. I always like showing people kindness instead of hatred because A. It makes them feel better. B. It makes you feel better (trust me). C. Peace and all that crap D. I always hear about how no one wants to play LoL because of the crappy community, in fact, one of my friends refuses to play for that reason. I hate playing a game that others scoff at me because they think I am a toxic, unlikeable human in society. We can work together to get rid of that stereotype and honestly, it's for the better.
Thank you all for reading my rant, I'd appreciate the Upvote so others may see this. As usual don't forget to have fun and love everyone. And Good Luck on the Fields of Justice!
