My Story
So I was checking the boards recently, and I saw a red post inviting players to RIOT HQ to playtest some sort of something. I was, needless to say, a little heartbroken, because I'm an east cost pleb (North Carolina) and in high school, and they wanted players in the LA area. Insert Pepe
One thing that did interest me is that the cost of admission was a good story about how league has impacted your life. I did not submit one there for the reasons mentioned above, but I still want to put my story out there.
I started playing League about a year and a half ago, mid season 4. I think Braum was the most recent release at the time. I was at a really cool summer camp called Duke TIP that summer. It's nerd camp, and it's the best thing. Anyways, over my 3 weeks there, my roommate and several other people were talking about this thing called League. I pride myself on my knowledge of videogames, so I did what came naturally to me.
I asked them to teach me.
The first few attempts were kinda futile, after buying machete as ghost-clarity Shyvana top lane, I think it was. I think after that I picked up Alistar, and they used him to teach me about itemization because at the time Ali could kinda do anything. So I learned about AP, AD, tank itemization, shoving, lanes, and not going near Annie (the guy teaching me mained her). It was some of the best times I've ever had. So I kept playing, all the way through the rest of camp and onwards.
See, the year before, I had moved schools from a private to a public school. It was a big transition, and I was most afraid of being unable to find friends. But one day, I overheard a conversation (I think it was about Kha'zix or something) and it turns out I fit right in with the league crowd.
Riot, I just want to say this- even if you don't reply, or don't even read it- I owe a LOT to you guys. You gave me something to aspire after, you gave me friends, and you gave me random things to do math on because EFFICIENCY.
Well, damn. Now I'm crying. I don't think I've ever really told anyone that much about my life story. So yeah, that's how League affected my life. I don't really know how to finish this off, so I'm just gonna put my name down here and go. Thanks for reading through the whole thing if you did.
