I afk yesterday in an aram. My goddaughter locked her keys out of car and its 5 degrees outside. I went and got her car unlocked and my game was still on. I apologized to my teammates and other team in post game. We lost But the amazing thing was I got honors from them. Sometimes u have to take care of an emergency. I just thought id say thanks to my team and other team for understanding.

A couple days ago a teammate had to leave because the fire alarm went off in their apartment building. Our whole team was all "GO! It could be a real one!". He came back in reasonable time and we stomped.
I had a guy afk for at the start of the game for I don't remember how long a few weeks ago. Came back just after I asked everybody to report him, said his sister had a seizure. Needless to say I felt like a dick the rest of the game.
I was in an aram while at my parents one day. Next thing I know, I heard my mom scream my name from her room. I ran in there as fast as possible to see my father had completely passed out in a cold sweat. Lost all of his color and looked like he was seizing. He later woke up and the ambulance came to observe him, etc. Came back to my room an hour later to see I had been reported. "REPORT SHOTTIE HE AFK AND LOOSE US THE GAME." "Reported." "What a dick."
Then I got a nice warning from Riot as well.
Sometimes people actually have real emergencies and they have to leave. I'm sorry if a family emergency ruins 20 minutes of your day.
This gives me an idea! I'm just going to start saying its an emergency every time I afk. The community seems to have a unified idea that it is wrong to report someone afk if they had a good reason despite the fact that there is plenty of room given that is there to account for people who had to leave for a real life reason, and the only way you will actually get punished is if you afk constantly maliciously.
I always say "If a system is exploitable, I feel I have the responsibility to exploit it". Humorously, this particular area of the leave buster system is perfectly fine. You ARE supposed report ALL afks no matter what reason they give you. If they were telling the truth and they just needed to take care of something, literally nothing will happen to them if you report them. If they are afking for other reasons a lot then the reports will add up.
Guys. Report your afks please. This concept is not that hard. Report them if they disconnected for even 2 minutes. It will do nothing if it is a seldom occurrence. If they are trying to play on a toaster hooked up to dial up every game, they should be held accountable. If they just had some isp, riot server, or personal pc bug, then the afk reports won't be in the volume required for action.

In the middle of a game of league i was kicked out because of the firewall error and the game sent me a message telling me I was going to get banned and that i had to accept the terms.

It's good of the people to honour you, it's a pity this type of thing is still going to count against you but it's a good sign that not everyone is on the 'burn everyone who leaves a game at the stake' train like so many are.
