No heads-up for downtime?!

I thought that Riot had been progressing, and becoming more professional.

With today's downtime, there was no advanced notice. This unscheduled downtime caught us while we were in champion select. Now I wonder if we'll be posted a loss, or worse, an AFK. There's simply no excuse for not disabling queues before initiating a change like this. It appears that Riot is becoming less and less professional in its approach to handling seriously their uptime. This is a reversal from what appeared to be an improvement and better trend in the last year or so.

if riot shuts down the server and it kickes you from a ranked game or ranked lobby you get a loss prevented

Yep, I read the info - this isn't a comment about reading the note - the patch note came up DURING champ select, and then because the server went down, the game didn't start and the client just barfed.

Either they know how to run data operations, and simply disable the queue in time for the shutdown, or they don't. If they don't, they're not software professionals. My comment is about the maturity of their ability to deliver software, not about reading notices.

Um, it's a little bit ridiculous to ask for a heads up when something unexpected happens.

Despite popular opinion the universe doesn't run perfectly all the time. So why don't we get off our entitled high horse and let Riot fix their product and service for everyone since that is their highest priority as a business right now.

Maybe go outside and get a breath of fresh air (and a new perspective since it isn't all about you).

What if my HIGH HORSE has a title. And his name would be Rito please!

It's funny how when you comment on what would be considered normal professional software practices in the business world, people assume you don't exercise, or are raging at a game.

They seem to be in full on derp! I recall their message being "pvp.NET" will be down for "a few minutes". This is another example of hopeful and unprofessional engineers and/or marketing not being able to communicate and build quality into their operational systems.

Read the notice -_- It says that they only disabled the platform. If you're already in a game (i.e. past the queue) then it's normal operations... I'm sure they just want to get the problem solved as fast as possible.
