Shaving

So guys im 16 and i have noticed those anoying teenage mustaches starting to grow. Now i want them gone, so here is my question, should i try and shave alone (i have seen tutorials on YouTube and instructions by Gillette) or should i ask my father for help (is it awkward to ask something like that? i have no idea) so if you guys could throw me some advices it would be awesome :D
