Expanding e-sports/leauge of legends through my university

Hello, I was wondering if the community could assist me. I am currently a college student performing a research project in hopes of expanding the e-sports club for my school (Northern Illinois University) I would like to hear the communities ideas of what it takes to have/create a successful e-sports club. Here are some idea's and information that I am hoping the community can help me with

1. What does it take to hold a successful gaming event, such as viewing parties, or school gaming tournament events. (What is required such as food, projectors, announcers, where the best place would be to hold such an event, etc.)
2. What type of method's could be used to expand e-sports a whole, and reach out to more student's for the possibility of joining the e-sports club, or simply attending specific events such as viewing parties or a school gaming tournament.
3. The average cost that should be expected to hold and perform such events. It be a great help to receive some feed back thank you for your time!
