First and foremost, I am a college student majoring in Psychology (woo, fun!). I am currently taking an English class and it is based on video games and Internet subcultures. Here is where I need your help as I am researching an ongoing trend I have noticed:
I am researching how higher ELO players tend to be less toxic and nicer overall. For example: while watching Arc Second's stream someone fucked up and instead of attacking each other they joked about it and no one made the other person feel bad about it. Said person who made the mistake also admitted that he made it, but everyone moved on and learned from it. As for low ELO players, I am in Bronze II currently and the players are toxic and are quick to attack if you make the slightest mistake. While playing one night I was playing Ahri mid for the first time in about a month as I've been learning to jungle and no more than 5 minutes into the game our ADC took blue from me and called me a skank. Our jungler was apologetic and tried his best to give blue buff to me when he could, but our Cait adc would constantly make a point to take it.
Long story short, if you have personal experiences such as this or examples of this observed behavior and you are willing to let me use your example in my essay (I won't reference it without permission) that would be great! Even examples going against the stereotype here are welcome, i.e. Tyler1 being high ELO, but extremely toxic. All help would be appreciated.
Good luck and have fun! [slayer-jinx-catface]
