Reconstruct In-Game Chat System Restrictions (detailed here)
All chat and team chat used to be way healthier but now you have to ignore 2 or 3 people if you don't want to be spammed by a trolling or two guys getting pissed at each other nearly every game. The best reason I can come up with is you want this system so even excessive chat behavior comes back after a certain amount of time. What I don't understand is why you build the system that way when it is open-looped with excessive alternate accounts and people who just don't care about the temporary ban from all chat and will return to that behavior.
You are right, you can likely through a statistic at me demonstrating how many players are excessively chat banned for certain periods of time but is that ideal? This system of 'can we work hard enough' to just have an okay all-chat result for the majority of players the correct mentality to handle this?
From my perspective if you build a system, on say 5 levels of Chat Restrictions applying differently for team and all chat to encourage better behavior.
1] Level 1 - Normal, No significant number of reports or tribunal convictions recently ~~Players in Level 1 can send chat to Level 1 and Level 2 in all chat. They will not receive all chat from Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5. ~~Players in Level 1 can send chat to all players in team chat. They will not receive team chat from Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5.
2] Level 2 - Caution, account remains on Level 2 unless improvement is made in the next 10 matches, can be moved to Level 3. ~~Players in Level 2 can send chat to Level 1 and Level 2 in all chat. They will not receive all chat from Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5. ~~Players in Level 2 can send chat to all players in team chat. They will not receive team chat from Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5.
3] Level 3 - Temporary chat banned, account remains on Level 3 unless improvement is made in the next 25 matches, can be moved to Level 4. ~~Players in Level 3 cannot talk in all chat. ~~Players in Level 3 can ONLY send team chat to other players in Level 3. ~~Players In Level 3 can ALSO receive chat from other players in Level 1 and Level 2 in team chat. (only receive not send)
4] Level 4 - Warning chat banned, account remains on Level 4 unless improvement is made in the next 50 matches, can be moved to Level 5. ~~Players in Level 4 cannot talk in all chat or team chat. ~~Players In Level 4 can ALSO receive chat from other players in Level 1 and Level 2 in team chat. (only receive not send) ~~Players in Level 4 cannot report players. *This is to avoid abuse on players who can talk, being excessively reported for no reason.
5] Level 5 - Permanently chat banned, account remains on Level 5. ~~Players in Level 5 cannot talk in all chat or team chat. ~~Players in Level 5 can ALSO receive chat from other players in Level 1 and Level 2 in team chat. (only receive not send) ~~Players in Level 5 cannot report players. *This is to avoid abuse on players who can talk, being excessively reported for no reason.
If a player is outside your player chat block range you cannot talk to them without one of the 2 following options.
Arranged Teams ~When in Arranged Teams, you can check-mark allied players if you want to hear them for the following match if they are not in your Level Range.
Friends List ~To permanently hear them regardless of Level Range, add them to your friends list. ~Friends list option allows you to disable their in-game chat while client chat remains.
Expectations of System ~Reduces amount of players from arguing with players who are just trying to win their matches. ~As players are moving through the system, they will naturally talk less and less if they are getting more restricted and even if they get a chance to talk they will be held more accountable. Making them either go further down or realize they don't want to stay in this chat section and want to discuss as well. While the players who are not toxic have their own all chat filtering toxic players to other set channels per say but can still communicate plays to the team setting the example of calm chatting.
p.s Happy you are trying but sometimes slightly harsh criticism can improve things.
