Proposal for a System to Improve the League of Legends Community
Proposal for a System to Improve the League of Legends Community
Goal: Improve the community through the use of a elo-like ranking system that, instead of just wins or losses, records the use of specific phrases in chat, and adds or subtracts points based on that system.
Step 1: Implement a metrics gathering system that records data such as phrase use, game result, play time, ect. (Likely already done.)
Step 2: Gather chat data.
Step 3: Analyze data to establish “Positive Player” and “Negative Player” archetypes, and the usual phrase use of each.
Step 4: Use data to separate LoL players along a “Positive Player - Negative Player” spectrum.
Step 5: Implement the system into the game, and use spectrum to group players with similar positivity or negativity as they play their ranked or unranked games.
(Concurrent with step 5: Implement spam filters to weed out players attempting to game the system.)
End Result: Ideally, this system would result in groups of positively acting, skilled players, playing together frequently. This would increase the number of positive experiences they have regardless of in-game performance, and thus increase the likelihood that they will remain a positive force that is active in the community.
This would also increase the number of negative experiences negative players have, increasing the likelihood that they will either improve their behavior in order to meet better people, or facilitate their own removal from the community, thus lowering the number of negative players in the player base.
