I don't know why I bother anymore.
You know, at first I enjoyed League; It was something new, I had so many champs to try out, and I thought I was playing a game where being good actually meant something. I've come to realize though, that League just isn't what it's hyped up to be, and it's really just... not that fun.
When every champ that you enjoy playing is out-classed by champs who require a fraction of the effort and lack any skillshots, you start to wonder why you even play your champ in the first place. Is it really so wrong for people to enjoy champs that require more effort and have more complex mechanics? I guess Riot thinks it is, since the easiest champs in the game are oftentimes the strongest, by far, and the harder champs are continually nerfed so that no one plays them. League of Clicking is more appropriate, given that clicking on someone is the best way to deal damage and guarantee someone dies. Playing someone like Azir, it took me a few games to learn all his tricks, I have to really work for all the damage I put out, and my early game is utter garbage -- while, on the flip side, my very first game with LB, I went 19/1, had no clue what I was doing, and just mashed buttons and won from level 3. I don't understand why Riot believes the easier champions need to be stronger, but I'm fairly certain it's because that, if people had to put in effort to win, no one would throw money at Riot by the fistful -- and what F2P company would put their game before lining their wallet with solid gold?
So, I have two choices, basically:
-
I can continue playing champs I enjoy, and have my ass utterly handed to me unless my opponent is awful,
-
Or I can play the braindead, boring champs that I just don't have any fun playing whatsoever, but absolutely annihilate with them.
That's just not a choice I want to make. I don't like losing 90% of my games, but I want to have fun while playing the game. Seems like that's not going to happen though.
As if that weren't enough, everything I thought would be cool about League turned out to be a lie as well:
-
All the champions are very generic, often using abilities from each other (excluding maybe one ability), and just look different.
-
Skill is not a factor in League. All that matters is items and kits.
-
Riot doesn't actually give a damn about their game, they just want your money.
-
Playing a harder champ isn't more rewarding. It's actually a handicap.
-
The community actually is awful, it wasn't just mass hysteria.
-
The "balance" everyone talks so highly of just doesn't exist.
-
...
I just don't really have much fun anymore when I go into champ select knowing I'm going to lose, and then go and listen to the announcer talk all about enemy kills, double kills, triple kills, my towers exploding, and all that. It's not fun when, even though I'm doing great, the rest of my team feeds like crazy and loses the game for me. It's not fun knowing that every champ I enjoy playing is just beyond worthless, and only works effectively if the enemy is a moron. It's not fun knowing that skill doesn't matter one little bit, and only my kit and items will let me win. It's not fun when the winner of a fight is determined by who has more CC.
I thought League was a great game at first, and I had a ton of fun... but now? I'm not sure whether Riot even looks at their game, and I really dislike how things work; but every game out there is the same, so there's nothing else I can play. Welcome to modern society, where entitled brats are king, and anyone who enjoys a challenging game is just a heretic and outcast.
Rant over.
