Redeeming for AFK punishment

I love this game but I do not have the best internet. So there will be times I get dcd and cannot get back on. I have no malicious intentions to leave what so ever but I have accepted Riot will spare no pity and the AFK penalties will be in place. My question is does the penalty go down after a period of time. I've spent a lot on my account and I would hate to see it banned. I want to know if there's a number of game to play without afks or number of weeks or months to wait for it to reset. Like getting off the leave busters radar. I don't want to have to play in fear hoping I don't get disconnected and lose my account for good.
