Bringing up elo in a discussion actually is a viable thing to do

ELO = representation of your game knowledge and skill argument = representation of game knowledge

If someone is higher than somebody, his knowledge is almost certainly higher, thus what they say related to the game is more likely to be true. I know i'll get downvotes, but just wanted to clear some things out.

Rivington as a shoutcaster has arguably some of the best game knowledge in order to do his job, but was Silver (not sure what he's at now though). Appealing to authority and resorting to personal attacks because of rank doesn't actually support an argument.

You can have a shit ton of knowledge about the game and not be any good at playing it.

you can't say this in a board dominated by low elo lol

it's funny how they use mastery points to validate themselves because they can't point to rank though xd

Unless you use rank as an excuse to downsize one's arguement

No, it's really not.

It's like saying "I'm on NA! We're where Riot actually is, so we're better than you who is off in EUW!"

Except knowledge doesn't work like that, not in the slightest. Yes, you may have knowledge, but I can guarantee that everyone is going to have a blind spot somewhere. In addition, just because you know that in order to do that, you may not have the skill or dexterity for it.

Let's say for example my computer programming friend. He's super extremely intelligent and works on a website, usually cleaning it and creating new applications. However, he's only proficient in WebSocket and Some Java (I don't rightly remember the name of the language, but I'll hazard it was Apex or similar)

Anywho, whenever there's some problems, he used to have me find bugs and suggest fixes. Now, I'm an idiot to computers so why should I help? Well, because I tend to stumble over bugs or stupidly suggest things which will get his mind rolling. We have two separate thought processes and both compliment each other. Just because I don't know computers doesn't mean I'm unable to at least get him to see a different side.

ELO just says you're good at climbing, I can guarantee I've seen Diamonds who've taken advice from Silvers because they were missing pieces after patch updates.

Right. Except when people judge you on your ´elo`while they played 2000 ranked games and you played like 20 because Mao skin.

ELO = representation of your game knowledge and skill

No, it's actually a representation of how many ranked games you've played and how sucessful you are in them. Not quite the same thing.

hahahahahahhahhahahahahhahahahahaha

Season 6 Dynamic Boost says hi.

There are times when ELO is relevant and times where it is not.
