Will League end up like Halo? Part 2 The YouTubers
Quick Note, the only reason it's called part 2 is because I remember making a part 1 on the old boards talking about it's competitive play. I know, kind of late with this aren't I but I didn't have all too great of a understanding of League YouTubers at the time. Content, had this thought while watching a Trinimmortal video.
I find it funny and sad that League has become Halo in a few ways. The same issue that most people see now is that League like Halo launched many YouTube channels until the game began falling out of a favor and The YouTubers went on to different things.
So the question is, will people like Trin, Sunnysplosion, Kiandy, Uber, Keoyri and Spazie become the next digital fear where they have great videos about a game and fall off with all their new content or skyrocket like Adam Kovic, James Willaims and Bruce Greene to owning their own business and eventually becoming apart of one of the best companys gamers can think of. (Rooster Teeth)
Personally, I think it comes down to the owner of the channel. If anything the League Youtubers all seem to share interests outside of League, so at the very least that should keep each other afloat unlike what the Halo community did because our intense rivals lead to most of us dying off.
The only popular Halo channels now are Halo Canon owned by a friend of mine who believes the unity idea of not letting others die off, Halo Follower which set up a rivalry and now there is talk of the owner not paying the people who he had manage his channel, firing them just to get more money and READYUpLIVE which to most people in the Halo community is just another 343i cock sucker and is quickly blown under the rug because of it.
Really hope The League YouTubers figure something out, especially those without a back up plan.
If any animators are looking for opportunity to start their League machinima, I say head to Gorilla Gong. It's where one of my favorite Youtubers Accrused Farms own, and Freeman's Mind creator Ross Scout points is community to for those looking for true machinima.
I might talk about part 3 soon which is community interaction from the Company. Back when Bungie was cool, they did some pretty great things with the community. Like The Steaktacular Event, Recon armor and their constant community play withs.
Note a Steaktacular is for you to win a game of Halo without the enemy reaching half your score. The League Version would be finishing a game without losing a tower. Those who got this medals could see them online saying "Luke Owes you a Steak Dinner."
The medal's description on Bungie.net, 'Luke owes you a steak dinner.', comes from a Bungie Hump Day Challenge where a fat cow was bet over a game, in which Luke Smith bet that he could beat another team, led by Frankie, by at least 20 points. Luke won 50-21
Cool stuff right? I just hope Riot doesn't fall part along with the League community.
