If a Bronze got to Challenger by... [Hypothetical Question]

After thinking about how unfair Riot is by making a player play the rest of a 4v5 game, I thought of this question: If a Bronze gets to Challenger in a month because ALL his games that he played in to get to Challenger had an afk on the enemy team, what would Riot do about it?

Would they demote him? Punish him (For "abusing" afks)?

Now, if he played legitimately, he would drop very quickly of course. However, lets assume there just kept being afks on the other team, until he got to the number 1 spot, and yet he keeps his number 1 spot because of afks (yes, i know almost no one would afk that high up but lets assume otherwise for the sake of the question).

Leading back to my question, what would Riot do about it?

Would they finally implement a better afk system that actually works and is fair to both sides in the event of an afk instead of punishing the afk and moving on? Is this what it would take? What would they do? I would like to know what you guys think. Please remember that this is a hypothetical question.

EDIT: Deleted old thread and posted this one for the sake of a poll.

wait, why is said player being punished? in all accounts nothing should happen because the matchmaking system paired him with afks, its not like he/she was doing the booting to have the constant 4v5s. also implying your own opinion in league will quickly lead to you being banned so id be carefull

Hypothetically? I don't think it'd happen. Once he started reaching higher levels of play - Plat+, if not Gold - and assuming that he wasn't gaining actual skill, he'd actually become as much of a liability for his team as the AFK players for the other. At high enough level, he'd be more of a liability for his team.

So his highest possible hypothetical rank would be somewhere in the neighborhood of Plat when it stabilized (winning some because of 5-man advantage, losing others because of his lack of skill). And that, I'm certain, Riot would let stand.

Think they'll do nothing and call it a fluke.

Nothing, since 4v5 games are winnable if the leaver wasn't also a feeder.

Look, if he's really a bronze player in Challenger, it's a 4v4.

Hell, it's like that once he hits gold.

He's going to need more and more enemy AFKs on the opposing team for each rank he climbs.

from plat-challenger, it would probably have to be a 3v5, in challenger sometimes even 2v5.

also that potential is so hideously unlikely the answer is 0.

for one i would mutch rather see the game come to a haulting stop and make both sides just start over with a full 5v5 and punish the leaver this would be fair for both sides.

The odds of him have at least one enemy AFK in EVERY ranked game he plays without resorting to foul play is probably similar in odds to being the sole winner on a high dollar Power Ball.
