Help Me Look for a Laptop!

Hi everyone, I'm not tech-savvy and know very basic things about comps and such. I'm looking for a laptop that I can carry around and use in college that I can also use to play League and other games on. I'm not looking for top of the line just something around/below $1000. Are there certain specs I should look for or brands that will be perfect for this? Thanks for the help!
