Some questions regarding the server situation and possible interim solutions

The north american servers are having issues, thats no secret. EuW has been having issues as well for over a year. GD, reddit, and even here have blown up with posts about sever lag and disconnecting almost nightly.

My questions are as follows:

• what's going on?

• Is the hardware outdated, broken, or is there simply not enough?

• Is it possible that a recent patch introduced a memory leak that could, over thousands of simultaneous games, cause performance issues?

• What is being done to correct this problem? Repairs? Replacing old equipment? Adding new equipment?

• If the solution is a long ways off, are you looking at any possible interim solutions? Perhaps an auto logout timer? Having thousands of players AFK in client cant be good. Maybe disable spectating during peak hours?
