My personal issue with the splash art changes - TL;DR

I recently checked surrender at 20 and noticed that a few changes were being made to outdated splash arts so as to globalize them, for the sake of an easier time trying to manage the artwork between both Tencent and Riot. So as to not deal with people saying that I'm making false claims, this statement was made by Riot JXE:

Here's Riot JXE with context on these changes:

"Hey folks,

As many of you (especially fans of the Chinese LoL scene) may know, some of our older skin and champion splash arts are different across the world. This is a big deal - splash art is one of most important tools we have for conveying a champion's fantasy and personality in League. We want players to have a global, unified experience - it's confusing when (ex.) Taric or Goth Annie have vastly divergent representations of their power and feel depending on which region you play League in.

Splashes are used everywhere: from champ select to the loading screen, portrait icons, the store, and more recently Hextech Crafting. With that in mind, we'll be updating a large number of our older splash arts to unify them across all regions. You should be seeing the first batch in today's PBE (and onward throughout the patch 6.7 PBE cycle), with another batch coming later in patch 6.8!"

Edit: Thanks for the feedback everyone. We won't be making any reverts or changes during this round, but this feedback will help our splash artists prioritize what to upgrade when they get the chance. I mentioned this in a comment, the benefit of making these changes is to eliminate a pipeline that has been causing us internal pain. We know some of these aren't as nice and the art style is off, but choosing one splash or the other was the fastest way to kill this pipeline. We want to focus on new content and features, not firefighting and changes like this help us do that.

Here is the main issue I'm having with what they are doing. By globalizing the splash arts, does it remove wasted time with them trying to acclimate to both art styles? Yes. However, what I feel like is going to happen here is exactly what I'm seeing happen with Solo Queue: They are trying to distract from the reality of the situation; OLD SPLASH ARTS NEED TO BE UPDATED TO THE CURRENT ART STYLE.

I fear that this is a facade, and they're going to use it as an excuse not to update some splash arts.

For example, look at Sun Goddess/Sakura Karma's Chinese splashes. Do they look bad? No, not for Tencent's art style. But they still need to be updated. Maybe in China those indeed look very beautiful and well drawn, but the art style is so differing between Riot and Tencent that now we will probably hear them say: "We've decided to not update some of the older splash arts, as we think that the globalization was enough of an update in and of itself for some splashes."

What!?! These splashes still need to be updated! I don't care if they look more like Tencent's art style, they still need to be updated to reflect what the 2016 Riot art style is! And I can assure you that whatever the fan-art excuse of splash arts like Infiltrator Irelia and Nightraven Fiora STILL NEED TO BE UPDATED.

All I'm saying is that if they use this globalization thing as an excuse to not have to update some splashes because "...it made them look a tiny bit better" then I'm sure as hell going to be mad. They can't pull this bull of trying to half-ass work that they just need to put on their big girl panties and do already.

TL;DR - They'd better not use this globalization as an excuse not to update some splashes, like Nightraven Fiora and Infiltrator Irelia. They still need to be updated, whether you use the crappy Chinese splash or the crappy North American splash - Crap is crap.
