Is giving advice the same as talking shit?

"You should not pick an engage champ if you are afraid to engage." "Don't build Iceborn first item against lulu."

That is all that was said by myself and support to top lane and his response was "just ff I don't want to play with people that talk shit for no reason". Maybe I just don't see it but how are either of those statements 'talking shit'? Is giving advice a bad thing to do?

I saw a Gangplank who build item 3508 item 3031 item 3078 item 3158. I want to tell him to buy different boots since he already hit 40% CDR with those items but didn't want to get report. http://www.auplod.com/u/uopadl6d63e.png

The only thing I could think of for "you should not pick an engage champ if you are afraid to engage" is that if you are playing anything but ranked people could be practicing and you are pretty much letting them know they arent doing well. And that will tilt some people. You could have just given advice as to how to do better engages. And after the first comment, they were probably already pissed so they just didnt want to see anything that you said as helpful. I personally am not that great at league in any form, so i never play ranked, but I LOVE the game. I dont mind losing, I try not to but it happens. If someone offers helpful advice I do everything I can to follow through, but if people make me feel like I am the worst then I usually ignore and do the opposite. just like a lot of people are toxic and hateful, a lot of people are sensitive. Hope this helps.

You're better off not saying anything. Emotional players can tilt over the smallest things that you can say.

Most people get defensive when someone has a different opinion, but you also need to try and give advice in a way that shows you are genuinely trying to help.
