MMR varies by team. For example if the enemy team has a collective MMR of lets say 1000 and your teams collective mmr is 900, you're expected to lose in this game, MMR wise. So if you do lose you'll go down less MMR because you were already expected to lose. However, if you win you'll gain a larger sum of MMR. The exact same idea applies for the flip of the situation. If the higher MMR team loses to the lower MMR team they would lose more MMR because they were expect to win.
That's a very general idea of how it works, hopefully that helps. Also 3rd party sites that gauge MMR aren't 100% accurate and shouldn't be considered as a reliable data point.
Gl on the placements.
