Omen canceled champion

I really think Omen might see the light of day on the rift considering lee sin was canceled too but ended up becoming a champion.

The only champion that exists today that I thought would be inspired by omen was but it was confirmed that had nothing to do with omen, by his pictures I and probably many others thought of a champion with potential but it seems riot didn't think so.

What was exactly the idea behind the cancellation of Omen? If Riot would respond that would be great, I'm just curious
