Matchmaking Tertiary Option

So far the new matchmaking team builder has had a rocky start; I think everyone can agree with that.

One of the initial issues I found is that if you pick support as a secondary you were almost guaranteed support. Now I enjoy playing support and am more then willing to from time to time, but I don't like doing it every game. I have read that they had made some adjustments a couples patches ago so that the matchmaking system would be more likely to give you your primary role, and I have definitely noticed a difference in Top, Mid, Jungle and ADC; If I selectop Jungle/Top I definitely seem to be getting Jungle far more then top now (or vice versa). I am not as seeing as big of a difference in support, but it does appear that there is a difference, so it is a little better (good job making that positive adjustment Rito).

I think that adding a tier to role selection may be able to make this process even a little better. So you would have a Primary, Secondary and Tertiary role option. You could possibly make this optional, so people could still only select two roles if they want to. It could get more people to have support as an 3rd option, which in turn could lower Q times. They could even force the Tertiary option to the most needed role (support) for everyone in the higher tiers of ranked where it seems that Q times are a much larger issue; but have a system in place to make sure that summoners are getting to play there Primary role more then their Secondary role and their Secondary role more then their Tertiary role. Also maybe add a small information metric to the role selection screen that shows the live load statistics of certain roles in an attempt to remind people that picking lets say Mid as there Primary role right now could severely increase their wait time.

I think I feel like most other people, where I am not a huge fan of the new match making process, but I am wishful that Rito can make it better. I do hate being paired against a 4-5 man pre-made, but it sure is satisfying when your team still steamrolls them...
