Favorite holiday loot drop?

Nothing says “happy holidays” like spending time with loved ones, taking a moment for quiet introspection, or GANKING SANTA AND NINJA-ING HIS LOOT.

Over the years, I’ve gotten some good stuff and some not-so-good stuff (there was the year my stepmother decided to gift-wrap my old high school debate trophies, and re-give them to me).

My best present of all time, though, was when I was just a little nerdling, forever jealous of all the cool kids at school with their Nintendos and their Sega Genesiseseseseses. I loved video games, but I didn't have my own system -- that is, until one memorable Christmas where my dear old dad took me to an Electronics Boutique, grabbed a Super Nintendo, and told me to pick out a game (I grabbed Final Fight). Now I work in games, and my dad reminds me every now and then that if he hadn’t done that I probably would have been a high-powered lawyer or something. Best dad ever.

Gifts are a great way to show someone you care -- and show them how you care. **So, tell me: What’s your favorite gift of all time, and who gave it to you (or who'd you give it to)? **

I think when I was about four I got an incredibly expensive remote control car from my grandparents. It was durable and lightweight, so you could do amazing tricks with it.

I played in the box for months. I loved boxes.

I agree with Aerothal, this is a tough question. For me, some of the best gifts I've received haven't been tied to a holiday. They've stemmed from someone's thoughtfulness or generosity, just for the sake of it. Like when my sister sent me a book, completely out of the blue, of the cutest French Bulldog photos you can ever imagine (I have an adorable, farting, Frenchie). Or when my boyfriend built me a computer when we first started dating, and set it up next to his so we could game together. Or when he bought me frozen yogurt yesterday.

The best holiday gift I ever received is probably the guitar my dad bought me for a birthday a few years back. It led to me writing songs, forming a band, and discovering a passion inside myself. It changed my life. I think the best gifts do that. So I guess sometimes, the best parts of the gifts aren't inside the wrapping.

a few years back, on the same year, my wife gave me a Gryphon hatchling plush(so adorable), a Playstation Vita, and a Zoom Lens for my camera... now THAT is a haul.

This year, my wife and I just sort of bought our presents for each other whenever... and she got me an Elgato so I could start streaming, also an awesome gift. :)

RP and booze. That's what I tend to get from all my friends.

Wow, uh... thinks

I GOT IT!

This year, I got one of my gifts early. My sister got me a rabbit because, be being a nerd and (admittedly) a know-it-all IRL, I don't have many friends IRL that I talk to out of formalities.

His name is Stevie, he loves lettuce, and I love him. Best gift everrrrrr.

What if, just for Christmas, you allowed us to spend IP for anything RP? You just make the prices match how it would look like if it were to be sold with IP. You can only buy 1 skin (only 1 ward skin or 1 champion skin you already own). Icons will be for IP but you can only get 1. You can also gift 1 skin to a friend for IP.

That's my Christmas wish.

thats hard. imma think on this one and get back to ya!

Had to activate my long-term memory, lol!!! Even though my wife despises games and the violence within them, she gave me CoD MW2 for Christmas 2009! I was so touched because she knew i really wanted it and got it for me despite her deep aversion!!!

Best present I've given? Hard to say but one year a grown up female relative of mine told me she never got a barbie doll when she was a kid so I got her one. She started crying when she opened it, so I think it really meant something to her.

Best present I've gotten? Harder to say. I've had a few nice music CDs that I keep playing. One of my favorite anime series was given to me for Christmas. One year I got a PS3 when it wasn't even on my list, that was a nice present. The one I got the most use out of was probably one of the Civ games (civ 5 maybe). I've played those a ton.

We ended up not using them too much, but the reaction on present day was amazing. My dad surprised my sister an I (we were probably in our early teens) with a pair of Tippmann paintball guns, and mostly just because he wanted to shoot my cousin (probably in his mid 20s at the time) in the face; my mom had no idea he got them and the look on her face was priceless. His wish was realized about a year later when he, my cousin, and I (borrowed a third marker from a friend) were in the woods and my cousin got a face full of green paint (it splattered under his mask).

EDIT: Favorite gift I've given was actually a birthday present, but I'll share anyways. My best friend is fairly conservative Christian, so for his 18th I gave him a stack of Playboys (actually it was just a cover of a Playboy with a camping knife underneath, but still, great reaction from him, lol).

So does that mean Riot is going to show it cares by giving it's player base a free skin or RP?

Anyways my best gift was probably a play station because my parents at the time were totally against anything that kept their kid in the house in front of a tv hours at a time. So when I finally got it I was kinda in shock :D

Scratch that, the playstation was the 2nd best gift, the best gift was girlfriend in a sexy mrs claus outfit. I'll leave it at that... lol

The best gift I have gotten came this year. It had been a hard year with some losses in the family and my parenta paid for a round trip ticket home for the holiday so I could be around family over the Holidays.

I'd have to say when I got a Playstation 2. Besides a Nintendo 64 (which I still have today after, I believe, 10+ years. Those things just refuse to die), It was my first gaming console that was actually mine (the 64 was bought by my step-father, so, it was never technically mine until he passed away).

Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 were the two major titles I had for it, and to this day, I still love the series. Now, I am awaiting for Kingdom Hearts 3, which, after 10+ years, is slated to come out late next year, or early year after.

Unfortunately, that poor thing died to static electricity frying the mother board (my sister was very young at the time, and we made the mistake of placing it on top of our entertainment set. At times, it seemed like it enjoyed the floor more so then its respective place). I think maybe a year passed, and I got an Xbox 360 which my mother won off of a raffle (she paid $20 for it!). I still have it after, I think, 7 years, and it still works fine. Had to replace the disk drive on it though, but other then that, my Xbox was never a victim of the common Xbox problems.

This year, I bought myself an Xbox One. Although my old Xbox still works perfectly fine, I am such a massive Halo fan, that, in order to continue the series, I had to get the Xbox One, which kind of sucks. But that's ok, because I do have an odd feeling that my old 360 will give up soon. When that date is, I don't know.

It was 3 stuffed dinosaurs that (at the time) where bigger than me. it was a brachiosaurus, triceratops and velociraptor made looking more like the dinosaurs from jurassic park (triceratops had floppy horns like they where dog ears :3). I remember seeing a big box by the tree and seeing my mom and step dad taking them out of the box, one by one and getting more and more exited. used to wrestle with them and bring them everywhere. That year I looked out the window and I could have sworn I saw Santa going passed the moon :,) It was good year to be 4(ish)... then the next year I got Pokemon blue O.o

I got a ticket for a Slipknot concert in march. Since they've only come to my country once more than 10 years ago it will be a once in a lifetime chance. Also they are the ones that got me into metal.

This is always hard to decide. Your view is always skewed a bit, as you attribute the value of gifts different now then you did then.

But after thinking about it for a while, I actually figure out what it was pretty easy. A few years ago, my mother put together a photo album of Herself, my father, and me. This was an important gift to me because my father died when I was 3. I got a bunch of pictures of him, him and my mom, and him and me. There were also newspaper articles and a letter or two he had written included.

Mine has to be the gamecube that I got when I was 5. That started my addiction of gaming. :D
