I'm really disappointed by Riot's continual lack of communication on the small things.
The current topic I'm addressing is Championship Jewels. The things that were much like PROJECT Cores; temporary Hextech Crafting materials used during events to upgrade various items. Most recently you acquired these Championship Jewels through individual packs worth IP or with RP purchases of Hextech chests.
Now please understand it is highly notable Championship Jewels were technically free no matter which way you purchased them; however, it is also entirely notable that because of PROJECT Cores there was a large portion of the community that was under the impression Championship Jewels would become disenchantable after the event (being Worlds) and were more willing to purchase them. Admittedly they were in the wrong for assuming such.
Now where the disappointment comes in is that there was no word from Riot at all about the plans on Championship Jewels. Plenty of players had questioned about them, even often here on Boards questions about them would show up, yet not a single Rioter replied or made even a footnote about Championship Jewels anywhere. Regardless of the assumptions, regardless of all the questions, Riot just entirely ignored the players about what would happen to Championship Jewels whereas with PROJECT Cores Riot had released multiple notices, posts, and Boards replies about the leftover materials. There are a lot of things Riot does answer or speak up about, but too often do the small, yet important things get completely left behind. Most often a lot of these small areas that need covering have answers simple enough to find out as well; putting out a footnote somewhere on an official League of Legends post would be more than enough as well to get the information out there to the people questioning it. Overall, this problem could have been solved with 10 minutes worth of effort.
