Trying to climb with a lower rank duo buddy is annoying

I finished gold 5 last season and my buddy finished like silver 5.
I placed silver 3 and he placed bronze 3.

I tried playing multiple ranked games with him. But games are just too much of a pain in the ass by not playing with people of similar skill level.

But somehow I'm the asshole for saying it's not worth it for me to duo and I'll just solo like I always do. He was so mad.
