Placements Question Pt. 2

Ok, here we go; last season was the first season I completed placements, and entered the ranked system. I won one match, and lost the other nine matches. I was ranked at Bronze 4. I really didn't enjoy the environment down there, as well as failed my promos seven times. I didn't play much ranked last season as a result. When the season reset I had high hopes for a better placement as I had gotten much better at the game. I won eight of my matches, and only lost two. The lowest ranking I had during all of these games was an A+. When I got my rating it was Bronze 5. So can someone please explain to me how this works or something, because it feels like a whole lot of bullshit. I went 1/9 for Bronze 4, so in what universe should 8/2 qualify me for a LOWER RANKING than I was? (I even have screen caps of the end screen if you need to see my scores or something). The chances of you placing higher than you finished last year are extremely slim, and honestly I believe only possible if you queue up with multiple players ranked considerably higher than you and you still win. All ranked awards work off wins or losses; your personal performance (outside the indirect consideration of your impact on said wins or losses) does not play into it.

Also, bear in mind your placement is not necessarily where your own skill "should" end up. The system is weak in that it only has a 10 game sample to determine where it thinks you belong, and that is only in relation to the rank/position of your opponents. Your actual, deserved ranking develops over the course of you playing and recording a history of wins and losses against a variety of opponents.

I know what the cesspit of B5 looks like, so understand that I am not patronizing you or condescending to you when I say this: if you put in the time and effort to learn and improve, you will claw your way out. Always play to win, learn as much as you can about your roles and mechanics, and understand how to punish mistakes while mitigating your own.

Also, it always helps to have as many friends as you can get to queue up with so that you can trust your team and know how they play. Hope you stick with it!
