Late Start to a Game, AFK Warning/Punishment

Hello, It seems that if I start a game late due to a crash, LoL patcher always tries to find differences and i come back a bit ( -5 mins ) late, apparently this counts as an AFK behavior. I know that I'm only in a low priority queue because of multiple instances of AFK behaviors, which I'm trying to reduce, but putting that aside, is a late start intended to be an AFK behavior? If so, what can I do to prevent League from crashing after champ select? I think that my connection isn't the main problem, as this happened once while in a Skype chat.
