Context on NA volunteers

Hey there,

Coming from the EU boards, I decided to comment on a PB&M post, but then I stumbled across an arbiter who had already written a good comment. Then a question popped up in my brain. Can someone give some context on the NA volunteer program?

On the EU boards there are three types of volunteers.

  1. Emissaries
  2. Wrenchmen
  3. Adjudicators

Emissaries are community pillars. They are active on any subboard and can provide valuable feedback. Many of them are also interested in player behavior. In addition, they organise contests and do some work on the background.

Wrenchmen are the techies of our boards. They mainly help out in Help & Support, but they are not limited to only helping there. They tend to work together with the emisaries in certain projects as well.

Adjucators are mostly interested in esports. Their main task is to help in tournaments.

While these are different roles, they also work together. For example, recently they made a site where they have gathered all player behavior information that is currently available.

What does the NA volunteer program look like? How much is the NA volunteer program similar to the EU volunteer program and are there any plans to make them more similar?

Would be great if someone could help me out.

I can talk about the North American Riot Games Volunteer Programs all day, but to address your questions specifically, the NA Program consists of one primary group, which is the Arbiters Program for the Player Behavior & Moderation sub-boards. We also have/had a Wrenchmen Program, but that program has been phased out as Riot stepped into the Help & Support sub-board, effectively eliminating any need for that role. The NA and EU programs regularly communicate; however, most of the coordinated efforts are instead between the North American and Oceania programs.

We're currently looking into ways to level up our volunteer programs, and that includes taking some direction from the European programs. The specifics, however, haven't been hashed out yet, and we're still in a very preliminary phase. As of now, we're focusing on expanding volunteer moderation roles within Player Behavior & Moderation, and we'll take it from there.

Great questions, and if you have any more, I'd be more than happy to answer them! :)
