I feel extremely embarrassed playing new Sion.

So before the nerf I mean "rework" I had a 60% win rate with sion. I was embarrassed to play him in top lane because by the 20 minute mark I had 250 less hp gained from my passive. His q takes an extremely long time before it can cc someone. His shield is now his most reliable source of damage. (Old ap sion anyone?) His e isn't reliable because you have to get a minion to have any range on it. His ulti is nice. His passive is use able for 2-3 seconds before he dies because %hp damage if you build tank, or instadie if you build damage.

I am embarrassed to call new sion a juggernaut.

There's two major issues I can see with the new Sion.

  1. His passive is worthless. Seriously, it takes WAY too long to actually return for the limited time you're able to whack away at people. Sure, you deal massive damage, but fat lot of good that's gonna do when you get kited as hard as pre-rework Sion did, on top of them having a chance to run away for, what is it, three seconds before you can do anything? And you also have no CC? Man, this is a pathetic passive. For one of those things that's supposed to have a massive effect after you've died, it really doesn't do that at all. The speed boost doesn't make any difference regarding the fact that anybody can just walk away from you and render your passive completely useless.

  2. Base health. This is a common complaint, but his new base health is too low. 1680 at level 18? He's supposed to be a tank, and he has the fourth lowest base health in the game. That's counting Gnar, who gets a massive increase in Mega Gnar form. The other two, Anivia and Zilean, have long range and Chronoshift respectively, and are therefore justified to be squishy, but Sion has none of that. Not only that, but he NEEDS to get into range in order to actually influence the fight in any meaningful way. His W now feels like a crutch, rather than a boon. Pre-rework, you had a level 18 base health lower only than Alistar's, and even then only by 3. You need 595 bonus health gained from your W's passive in order to equal your previous base health with no stacks of old E passive whatsoever. This amounts to 298 CS, not counting big minions or champion takedowns, which would obviously help lower it a bit, but not much. Because he's now so squishy without stacks, he's basically forced into the jungle so that he can farm his W health without fear of getting cheesed in a solo lane by someone who can just pummel or poke him without fear of retaliation.

Yeah... I think he should be in the middle for base health at least.

His kit feels like Riot is focusing too much on counterplay for my liking. I understand counterplay but every one of his skills including his passive can be easily escaped from. At least in my experience, he is incredibly easy to deal with as a champion due to his lack of reliability on anything in his kit. (Passive has a long animation, E is short range unless you can hit a minion, W can be destroyed thus reducing his damage, Q can be walked out of/canceled, R can be sidestepped with boots which is funny to watch)

Pro play seems to favor reliable champions and due to the nature of Sion's kit I have a feeling he may not see much tournament play.

Hell, even his main strength (potential infinite HP) has a lot of counterplay because of %HP available on BOTRK and in some kits. (Gnar W, Vayne W, Shyvana E, Elise, Gragas W, Maokai W, Mundo Q, Jayce hammer E, Vi W are what I can think of atm)

The new Sion is incredible, but try to learn to adapt, I used to be a Sion main too.
