Secondary (Smurf) Accounts & MatchMaking
Secondary accounts are not a bad thing. Anyone should be able to make as many accounts as they want and play on them. But the way to do it right now is just not good, and here are some reasons why:
- Level an account from scratch again means you won't have champions or runes. So not only will you have to farm XP, but also A LOT of IP to even make the account usable. It's slow, grindy, tedious and it creates even more problems, which I'll mention below.
- The New Player experience is destroyed by this. More often than not, experienced players who are just lelveling another account will encounter people who are totally new to the game. So you'll have someone with a lot of experience murdering an Ashe with a Thornmail, because that's what the tutorial taught them to build. What is the new player supposed to do against an experienced player?
- When secondary accounts reach 30, a lot of them start ranking. The problem is, many of those secondary accounts are owned by Plat and above ELO players, who then get queues up with Gold or lower ELO players. What is a Silver II going to do when the Smurf Diamond II pops in his queue on a secondary account? How is this fair matchmaking?
The above mentioned problems all lead into the game becoming one thing: Anti-fun
Leveling a secondary account should be easier and not a device that ruins new player experience. Such accounts should then be treated at the same level as their original accounts when it comes to ELO, preventing Diamond players end up in queues with Silver players only because it's a secondary account.
This has been a problem for years, yet I can't recall a single thing that has been done to streamline the creation of a secondary account, or any action to prevent High ELO players on secondary accounts end up with players way below their level in Ranked, or experienced players fighting a newbie Ashe with a Thornmail because RIOT, WHY DO YOU TEACH NEW PLAYERS TO BUILD THORNMAIL ON ASHE?
Thank you for your time.
