What Riot has done to vision - feedback.

So, everyone by now has probably had a chance to check out the new vision modifications and know what they do so I'm not going to summarize, and quite frankly I think they suck.

I main support and, don't get me wrong, things like relic shield that give me more gold and let me have my items up sooner are awesome, and the trinkets are a lot of fun and very useful, adding an interesting new aspect to vision. I really like where riot is coming from in trying to create an "end game fantasy" for their players, even supports, but most of our role as support is warding. We are in charge of vision, and I know this is what riot was trying to change with these new things but that's a huge aspect of supporting a team, making sure we have vision. While everyone needs to be helping out and there definitely need to be more things in place to make this happen, it is extremely frustrating to not be able ward when I know one or two more wards on the map would save my team a lot of grief.

Our role is to support and by so restricting our ability to ward you take away a lot of our ability to support our team as effectively as possible.

I think overall, the changes will be something many will have to get use to as new strats are being discovered. I also main support, and recently I have taken up the role of defending my valued pink with certain positioning; as well as using pinks to mark the enemy jungle (they buy time and give the ability for a planned ganked while distracted with trying to drop your vision). These are only a few examples of new and fun ways of using 1 or 2 wards to keep a safe Proximity Warning Zone(PWZ)

For problems such as Eve and Twitch ganking solo lanes, ask your Jungler to place a pink somewhere between top and mid, they will only need to do this about twice early game if placed in sneaky spots. This way, both top and bot lanes will only need to grab 1 green each. You will be able to focus on pushing your lane with all your wards as safety cover. And with that 1 pink (like mentioned above), if placed in a good spot, stealthed champions will either never see them or have to decide to either destroy it or just continue with the gank and they were unnoticed or faster than you.

The Fog of War is not only your enemy, and this was forgotten over the years as warding became something we did more than anything else.

Remember: Our roles as support are to establish good communication with the team, maintain the overall awareness of your team (not just ward placement, we all know it is easy to tunnel vision so we should always be ready to toss a caution ping out), and help roam with your Jungler on occasion to give backup for any failing lane. We should no longer assume vision will always be our primary goal, because that is not always a teams weakness. We are to cover our own team weaknesses while exposing the enemy's.

Agreed they've gone too far in a different direction, trying to make warding a team activity, which admittedly isn't a 'bad' thing. As for your particular point, one solution that they might implement could be a warding extension that support characters could purchase allowing them to place those 2 additional wards bringing the total up to 5 stealth wards instead of the 3 current. You could even make it into a trinket or a trinket upgrade.

Regardless, removing oracle's has caused a bit of trouble... Eve, Twitch, Akali, Rengar... these characters have received a significant boost in early levels and even late game. It seems difficult to stop stealth from being a free escape, or in some cases a free kill. Not that stealth didn't do that prior to the vision upgrade, but now... it is hard to keep any sort of vision on the enemy, and the fact that the vision ward is not only visible, but has 5 hits... placing it in lane and using it to spot a Twitch is... difficult, especially compared to before the change.

As for Teemo, I would say the current trinket that disables and finds traps and wards is really solid against him. I like the balance there and hope to continue learning more tricks to use and deal with those type of traps.

Personally I'm more afraid of Relic shield negating the support role entirely. I know this might be an unreasonable fear, but lately I've seen more people experimenting with non-support bot lanes. Both people farm, both get money and items... two adc's bot... no problem... I think this update has been a big revamp and I hope to see LoL continue to innovate and experiment, but I also think that there are issues that need to be addressed; in my case, stealth characters/vision wards/no oracle; and supports/relic shield, though I think that the idea that addition ward placements for support characters could be really useful and help cement that role.

The vision war system is actually great in widdling out new players from bad players. Those who consistently do not ward and rely on trinkets will always find themselves in a gamble, fog-of-war scenario. I, for one, enjoy this new system and welcome it in its entirety.

I main support and Im relieved for not having to spend alot of cash on warding at all and the whole team could pretty much ward their lanes now with trinkets of course you'll need a vision for Eve but the benefit is that the support is no longer in charge of warding cause of the limitations set on the wards.

No tinkets = more strategy Your argument is invalid

As you said, the role is Support. In Season 3, the more appropriate name for that role would have been Warder. Riot wanted to make the Support role more enjoyable so that more people will play it. Success. I played it before, but it's much more fun now.

They also wanted to address the snowball effect that vision played. Teams that were winning were able to purchase more wards and keep winning, so early game play almost ensured a loss at high levels of competition. Warding is not a skill comparable to lane play and team play. You just drop as many as you can so you can see every inch of the map. By capping wards, though, and shifting the burden on to other members of the team, they opened up strategic warding as opposed to the Season 3 plan of "0% Fog of War FTW".

I don't main Support, but I played it a lot in Season 3, and I'm enjoying it so much more in Season 4 because I feel like I'm actually playing now instead of just carrying around wards to dot the map constantly. But I've always hated how much of a role vision played in winning. If I had my way, there would be no wards in the game and people would actually have to consider their choices a little more. But I don't expect I'll ever get my way in that respect.

I main support as well, and since the drastic reduction of vision power, I have had a terrible time. Especially pink wards, it's like giving free reign Twitch, Teemo, Eve, and Akali.

I agree with trinkets and the new gold making items to encourage supports to build more ap which yes makes them more potent in a team but every single game I have played since then there has bin 0 wards even in ranked ppl seem to think now that they can build ap they can go apc which isn't good. support is a support they only take kills to make sure the adc lives and that's about it, I have heard the same excuse over and over again trinkets gives us enough vision and no it doesn't, yes the team should always help with vision but now even the support wont do it anymore...also why take out oracles that was a way for ppl to counter champs like shaco, eve and twitch. I would like to also add im a big support player
