Lore Event

So the lore behind LoL explains that the Rift is used to settle disputes in Runeterra, however we seldom have an out of game event that adds to the vibe of the game, perhaps Riot should create a team that is responsible for coming out with monthly events in League that are the disputes that the games are actually being used to settle.

You log on, and are given the option to read the disputes lore that is happening, you are then prompted to pick a faction and all the games you play and win will be tallied for the faction and at the end of week or so the numbers will be tallied and people who sided with the winning faction get some sort of icon, or item shard.

Perhaps they could introduce a "Badge" tab in your profile so for each time you were on the winning side you can get a unique looking badge to have in your badge tab, as a little trophy.
