Is player behavior being kept in check at all anymore?

Ever since tribunal has been put in "Maintenance", it seems to me that player behavior has been getting progressively worse.

Lately, i can't seem to ever get a game where there is no toxic or inappropriate behavior (on either team that is), and I'm seriously concerned about it because nothing seems to be done about it.

Now, i know that some automated systems were put in place, but honestly i feel like they are only targeting the most obvious, leaving a lot unchecked.

Thoughts?

It's not that people aren't getting targeted. It seems to me like more people than ever are being punished, actually. It's just that the punishments aren't designed to make a real impact. Limiting chat instead of taking it away means you can still rage, Leaverbuster doesn't really do anything at all.

The answer to your question is that in theory yes. Riot says that there is an automated process in place.

In practice, only Riot knows. And I find this very unfortunate.

The Tribunal was not perfect, but it WAS transparent. I don't know how many times I was on the Tribunal boards and the response always was "post the card". And sure enough the person was toxic.

If you participated in the tribunal, you could SEE the results after the case was decided (time ban, warning etc). None of that is happening now. Makes me kinda sad.

I think it's a bunch of things. Tribunal being down is a big part of it, because it meant the community felt it was helping itself. The next thing is that it took a looong time to get the automatic stuff implemented. But thirdly, no one knows if their reports are worth anything any more, and if you're reporting one person per game, legitimately or otherwise, you either keep on going and your reports gain less power, or you just give up and stop reporting.

Im sure it is, just people barely report people nowadays. Also note that maybe its a one time thing. unless its the same people which i find highly unlikely!

I have actually noticed a decrease in toxicity. There are still some idiots, and they appear just as frequently but normally there are just a few lines of rage and then silence. I am attributing that to the chat restrictions giving them time to calm down.

Well I've been getting dumpstered with chat bans recently, something that never happened when the Tribunal was up. I think it's 50% that the Tribunal is down, leading to a increase in toxic behavior due to a lack of a perceived accurate punishment system, and 50% because the automated system is dick. Anyone in the Tribunal would tell you that the behavior that I've been displaying has been reactive to other toxic players and not frequent enough to warrant action in any way, shape, or form. But obviously, the FANTASTIC automated system was truly better.

I absolutely detest chat bans because you can simply mute players. It prevents me from communicating with my team. Until a hotkey implemented chat system like the one in Smite is implemented, I cannot play ranked without being able to communicate with my team. Plus, if my team just reports me for whatever my team feels like reporting me for, I cannot defend my actions in chat. Example, I was under a chat restriction in my game as Bard, and my ADC and Jungler were flaming me non-stop for roaming, despite her feeding and laning against a Blitzcrank and Teemo, so I roamed other lanes to place shrines and collect chimes. Because I couldn't defend myself, if my team wasn't rational and couldn't see past their toxic behavior, I probably would have been reported for intentionally feeding, because I couldn't defend my actions.

TR;DL, the automated system is broken, computers suck at analyzing human actions.

grow some fucking balls, and realize that someone calling you bad isn't toxic.

league's toxicity is lower than it's been in a long time.
