This is a link to SMITE's system of keeping assholes out of ranked queues. It works beautifully and there isn't much drawback at all. League of Legends is a great game. The attempts at getting rid of the rampant toxicity have frankly been half-assed. Woo-hoo, ribbons for not getting reported and lenient ban policies. Neither of these solutions have been any sort of significant recourse.

If people want to play ranked, they should have to prove over ten games that they're not going to ragequit or be giant dicks. Imitating the Goodwill system will avoid needing to ban players completely while giving the message that toxicity will not be tolerated.

I can see no explanation as to how the Goodwill system handles the differentiation between rage quitters and simple disconnections/game crashes. Not all players have stellar internet, and even then, stuff happens.

The incentive to get better ip (or favor in your example) is very good, but your post does not mention how the Goodwill system handles this problem. Such a system will penalize players with intermittent problems or even players that are unlucky enough to experience a disconnection at some point. Plus, the fact that when you dc, even briefly, you lose your streak and your favor bonus resets (again according to that link you supplied above).

To be honest with you, the Goodwill System is pretty much the EXACT same thing as the "ribbons" in League of Legends. Both are gained from reputation or have something to do with reputation, both give out some kind of award, and both are similarly aimed at reducing the amount of toxic players. I am also surprised at the fact that you did not mention anything about the Tribunal. In addition to this, in LoL and in SMITE, if you get banned or lose "Goodwill", you can always just create another account. Even if it means getting to ranked games. Personally, I think that we just can't stop trolls and toxic players from the battlegrounds...in LoL each day, 12 000 000 players log in and play. We are talking about 12 000 000 players, not the simple 1 500 000 players in the small SMITE community. If you want to, do some math about it. There is nearly a 10 000 000 difference in the players amount just EACH DAY. So what are you going to do about that? Every single game, especially multiplayer ones, have toxic players. From harassing a new player, to criticizing the enemy team members, there will ALWAYS be toxic players. And if you can't accept that, all you really have to do is to press that "UnInstall" button or just not touch the game ever again.

You'd be shocked how many trolls, assholes, ragers, and quitters, I've met with a teamwork or friendly ribbon.
