Riot should survey ALL players before making major updates

Hey guys,

In other games they have polls open for the ENTIRE community to vote and decide on content. A good example is runescape where the devs sometimes have stupid ideas. However no new content is added without a 75% majority voting yes. All players get a vote.

There is really no chance of a stupid idea bring implemented because a devs decided it was a good idea, without consulting the playerbase.

Therefore players control the game not the devs.

If riot had simply polled ALL players if they should remove solo q instead of surveying the handful , they woulda realized the majority of the community didn't want solo q remove. it woulda saved a lot of time and we wouldn't be in this solo q shithole

Its obvious that riot is so disconnected from the community that they have no idea what we want or value about this game. They think we want more skins but really we just want to have a fun balanced game.

Since we can't trust them not to fuck things up even more, I propose that in the future if they get any other bright ideas like removing solo or ranked 5v5 queues that they poll ALL players and release the results of the poll, instead of surveying a few people and changing the game based on a few opinions, instead of everyone's.

Let's say, for sake of example, there are 100 accounts. 25 play daily, 25 play at least weekly, 20 play once every few weeks, 10 play at least once a month. The other 20 players are inactive/log on infrequently. If 75 players were required to agree to a (major) change, the poll would have to be up for at least 2-4 weeks to give everyone a chance to vote. This can get rather confusing when patches are released every other week. If Riot wants to get content out frequently, there may be multiple, unrelated polls in the same time period. This also isn't even covering the smurf/alt issue that would allow double voting.

You could then put the vote out while the idea is still a concept (before much work gets done on it), but in the development of the idea, there can be major changes. Voting would have to be done once the idea is finalized, which means that it has already passed through riot's internal testing.

Additionally, some issues sound good on paper and in the planning phase, but end up failing for one reason or another once they hit live due to large numbers and imperfect group modeling (you aren't going to get around it, even the best data isn't 100% accurate)

I like the idea of having the community vote on contentious issues (like dynamic queue, class updates, etc) but I am not sure how to fit this feedback into the development system in such a way that it is actually useful. It would be more reasonable to ask riot to make more development threads on the boards to get feedback from the community. However, that opens the door for more misunderstandings if riot isn't careful with what words they use.
