With the huge roster League already has one has to wonder, when is the time to add in more bans for draft play? I think that we are almost to the point when another ban is almost needed, the game can't always be perfectly balanced and there are just so many champs right now it is crazy that 6 bans is supposed to cover it.
I'd appreciate an extra ban per team but if I remember correctly Riot isn't planning on expanding them at this time.
Or just remove all the bans and let the chaos begin
A very good point. I'm ashamed I haven't thought of it myself. I just thought last night, "There are too many champs to ban these days."
Conversely, though, I think it would be equally nice if they just did away with bans entirely. For the pros it makes sense because they choose so carefully and it affects the games a lot.
But for lower-tier players it's usually just a routine system where the community has decided who should be banned. Or you get that one person who bans all the counters for the one champ they want to play and leave the rest of the team to face the OP champs...we've all seen that guy.
if you're going to increase the ban phase i'd make it so everyone playing gets a ban. fair's fair.
i read a post a few months back that suggested a complete revamp to the picks/bans which sounded really interesting from a strategic/tactical view point. having part of the bans at the start and others later in the pick phase - i think the guy referenced Smite or Dota i don't recall. that said i'm pretty happy with draft mode at the moment knowing that odds are riot will rebalance things again in the pre-season and a lot of these OP champs are temporary or just haven't found appropriate counters yet.
I never really thought of this before. It is true there are like 120? 130? Champions out right now, back when there was only like 60 6 bans got rid of a tenth of your options now it gets rid of a twentieth.
