Motivation for Ranked

I don't know why, but I feel like ranked is filled with trolls and dicks.

I haven't done too bad for the small number of placement matches I've done, and I'm confident enough in my skill that I could advance into Silver with a bit of work, but I have this feeling I'll be dealing with a lot of headaches along the way from raging teammates to afks and more

Will I be alright for ranked?

What do you mean motivation... Do you want to climb to silver or not?

I think you should be fine.

I've climbed from bronze 3 in season 3 to diamond now in season 5.

It's quite a climb and you learn, not just about the game, but how to deal with trolls. (At least you will know how to not get emotionally affected by them)

Ranked is good, if you have free times to pick, ban etc. If you think that high elo is troll free, you are wrong. Look some high elo streamers (Twitch, youtube) they also troll, feed, verbally abuse their teammates and so on. It's the same thing over and over. If you are just playing for fun, don't bother. I started playing ranked in October- went from Bronze to Silver 2, then quit. This season (around 20 March) started playing ranked again and now I'm Gold 2. I will install the game again after Riot releases some new content - heroes /game modes. I have most of the champions and don't see a valid reason for playing ranked in a this stale meta - it's just gets repetitive. Also Riots servers have the habit to suck from time to time - I've lost quite a few games, because someone can't reconnect.

Use the mute button. People are very angry in ranked because there are a lot of tryhards mixed in with a lot of trolls. Stressful for some people. Mute them and you'll be fine.

Tips to enjoy playing ranked:

  • If you're banning, even if you know who to ban, wait until the last 10 seconds so your team has time to figure out roles and communicate.
  • If anyone starts to say "gg" early or show any signs that they could be playing with a negative mindset, mute them immediately if you dont want to argue.
  • If they're the jungler or tend to be the one making team-wide decisions, you could say something like "Please communicate through pings in the future" (this one might backfire if they start to angrily spam pings on you).
  • Same as any other game: be positive and supportive if you can, and dont say anything if you can't. If you're not part of the problem you'll win more and have more fun.

Motivation? If you have a favorite streamer on Twitch, watch them. Makes me want to play a lot (Trick2G is a fun watch for me) .

However, I suggest you have one AP and one AD runepage before going into ranked. Even if you don't play AP or AD it's good to have on in case, helps a bunch.

Also, never rely on your teammates. Know that you yourself should be able to carry the game. I do often, and also, find a champion I have no clue about and play them. Preferably an ''underpowered'' one, to teach you the ways of carrying a game. You also learn the fundamentals of learning a champion and learn the way to bend a champ to your preference.

Bronze is filled with players that think they know more than they do. I "/mute all" at the beginning of every game and enjoy most even if we lose. I find it better to unmute good players than to mute the trolls/toxic players after they say something stupid. You should only get stuck in "elo hell" if you get sucked into their drama.

The thing I enjoy most about ranked is measurable progress. I was placed with all different divisions in normal (bronze - gold) and I thought I would land in Silver/Gold when I decided to play ranked. I actually landed in B2 and dropped to B3 immediately. You might be surprised where you actually place if you only played normal. I had a B1 promo series yesterday and it feels nice knowing that I'm improving. I feel I've learned more in the last week of ranked than I have since I hit 30.

Usually if you lane then you should be safe from ragers in the first ten minutes of the game as long as you don't feed, then on if you do well by yourself then the only thing people will flame at you for is "kill stealing". If you jungle, then no matter how well you play, you are gonna get verbal abuse at least once every five games because one lane is unhappy because you couldn't camp for them. There will be dicks in every other game, either to you or to other teammates. If it's not aimed at you help the other poor guy out since verbal abuse reduces your performance HARD. There will be games you can't win either you being too behind in gold or an afk, if this is the case report the afk and move on. I'm not playing too much this season but I think I'm climbing decently for how much I have played after I totally bombed my provisionals. Streamers are probably your best tool to learn from, I owe so much to Trick2g and WingsofDeath because I learned so many things from them. Edit: I don't play anymore ranked games if I lose two games in a row because it demoralizes me.

Not at all. I'm on a 9 loss streak at the moment. About 5 of those had a form of dc, feeding, or afk. My last game had the apc and adc dcing forever in a day. I had a shen in another who had 20 cs at 35 minutes. He was also 0-9 cause he kept running into their base to die. It really sucks to play. Honestly I'm debating quitting the game because Swtor is so much better than this bull.

Do I get fed as the jungle? Yes. Do I push turrets? Yes. Is the whole enemy team fed? yes. Do I try to not last hit so my carries can get the kill and get fed? Yes. What happens if they can't secure the kill? Then I secure so they can get at least an assist over nothing at all. It's hard to carry people. And after awhile, it just is not fun anymore.
