A Revised Honor System?

Hello Summoners!

Idea Number 1

Would it be nice to have an option to select which ribbon to wear? or perhaps, If you have the pleasure to earn each of the colored ribbons, perhaps they could be displayed like a small badge on the corner of the Summoners load out card, or icon during champion line up? Share your thoughts or ideas on the matter. I feel to have something stand out other than a simple ribbon, may motivate others to encourage one another and themselves, to act better or more accordingly in game.

Idea Number 2

Have a Honor reward system? yes, we get ribbons to put on display and all, But what if Riot decided to REWARD those who are honorable? And I mean, HONORABLE, as in they have earned each of the ribbons, No punishments from Tribunal within a Year's time of current date., They should get a discount from the store, 5% from IP purchases, (Champions, Except New releases that same week, and runes) Or yet, Gift summoners with 100 IP when they FIRST achieve a ribbon.

So, tell me what you think of the above idea's everyone. Would it work for Riot? Could the ideas provoke change in toxic players? or would toxic players not care about the incentives due to the small nature of the earnings? Just keep in mind everyone, Riot earns it's income from providing you all with great content and enjoyment everyday for this game, They made a game free to play , without knowing how much of a success it would kick off. Big Risk = Big Rewards! So the above Idea is to reward players for good behavior, and not decline Riot's earnings for a job well done. So that's it for now, As always, Good Luck and Have fun!

Razgriz86 See you in the Fields of Justice!!

P.S This will be posted Twice, Here, and in Teamwork & Behavior. Was not sure which area it belongs, so I posted it twice, Sorry Riot. If one of the Rioters could be kind enough to tell me where it could be stationed at, I will take down one of them.

the problem with rewards for being honorable is that ppl can easily just put up a facade to earn the reward, then go back to their toxic ways. It is extremely easy to lose a ribbon if you have earned it, and extremely hard to get it back once it has been taken from you from something as little as a warning, that could possibly have been 5/9 players that swung the votes against your favor. An ip reward for being honorable would be extremely good. Perhaps though, if instead of getting a discount for champions, the player were to get a smaller reward per game of ip for a win/loss, it would be more beneficial. Perhaps even giving a discount on runes would be good.

For the discount on runes, the idea is that as a player reaches level 30, they will have received the opportunity to prove that they are a honorable opponent, and runes are extremely important when you hit the level 30 mark, and continue to be important when you start making rune pages for specific champions.

Something as small as 3% more IP per game, excluding any bonus you buy (or if you want to include bonuses to make people that are honorable be more willing to buy said bonus) for runes discount for being an honorable player, perhaps something like 5-3% off of runes would be nice, it is not much of a difference, but is definitely an extra incentive for players.

Perhaps even something as cosmetic as having your name in-game to be of a different color, that you could chose based off of icons that you only have as long as you are an honorable player, but that get lost as soon as you get a warning from the tribunal.

Perhaps even giving an honorable player the benefit of the doubt in the tribunal system can also prove to be an incentive. maybe making your honorable status give one collective vote to pardon you, since the community has clearly decided that you have been a good person to play with in the past. Maybe a warning of you potentially losing your ribbon could be distributed before you lose your honorable status. I personally have seen how it is rather frustrating to have worked so hard to earn a ribbon, and because you have been playing the game for so long, you get consumed by the negativity and spiral into bad player habits. Warning an honorable player of a report against him as soon as it happens, instead of before the tribunal gets its hands on it, will for sure make him consider being a positive influence in the next games that are to come, because the honorable player takes pride in his status, and will strive to make sure he stays consistent.

Perhaps something as little as an option a player can put on to his personal account so that he gets warned for any type of report against him following the game that he actually received that report in would help players consciously try to improve their influence on other players.

Possibly giving players that have earned honorable status the option of receiving "admin" status to the effect that their reporting a player can give the player a queue punishment of something small like one or two minutes for the player to cool off and think about his behaviour. This being, of course, something that is easily revocable if the tribunal catches said player being a negative influence in any of the cases that may be compiled against him.

Perhaps to further balance this, these honorable players may have the option of hiding their status, and looking like any other normal player, so that in a game, nobody will single the player out

Wow, So much positive feedback, Thank you guys! I'm pretty sure I was not the first one to discuss an idea such as this either, Lets keep this alive in hopes Riot will take notice. =) I think the bottom line is, Something more than just a ribbon, may influence players to act accordingly.

I remember a time, back in 2012 I believe, in the Winter season event, That you could get an Icon, The Baron's santa hat one, for GOOD Behavior! I so Wish I could of gotten that icon =( it was enough at the time to make me positive.

So Riot!? Are you listening!? hehe, Even if its a standard icon, or maybe a Group of Icons that we could choose from? Perhaps an Icon assigned to the "Ribbon" we earned of that category to fit the style? Or maybe the 5% discount or even 3% something that would encourage others to be more constructive in the Fields of Justice?!

Honestly this is definetly a step in the right direction. I think the ribbons are cool and all, but I don't think it is enough to change a toxic players habits. I believe people want a tangible reward that they can actually put to use. Free IP or a discount on champions/runes etc. would be great. Anyways right now any reward beyond just the ribbons is the right way forward.

I like the idea of rewarding honorable behavior with something more substantial than ribbons or summoner icons.

One concern to rewards for good behavior is that people will just revert to their bad behavior once they get the reward. That's why I like the idea of handing out a substantial reward at the end of each season to those consistently honorable over the entire year. That way there's really no window of time during the season that people will just stop trying unless they really don't care about the reward, but since it's a seasonal reward in can be substantial enough to hold people's interest.

Another concern is that people will fake it. To which I say: so what? I'm perfectly okay with an illusion of honorable behavior if it means seeing toxic behavior becomes a rarity instead of experiencing it in most of my games.

i think this might be a step in the right direction though i almost feel like being able to down thumb a player might also be i good idea.

i find that there are some players that are not fun to play with or whom have a generally bad attitude. not bad enough to report to the tribunal but that a slight loss of honor would be an adequate punishment.

maybe make this option available to those whom have earned all the ribbons/ badges.

also perhaps make a summoner icon gift for those that earn all the ribbons. just something special that they can use that says, hey i am not a toxic player and riot has honored me for helping to make a non toxic community. or maybe a free skin or some other promo thing like that for a cheaper character like annie or ashe.

I really like the honor system and conversely the tribunal system. That being said, I REALLY like the idea of positively reinforcing good behavior or "following the code."

Toxic players remain toxic because they either: A, Don't fear the tribunal because there is not enough community participation. B, Enjoy it too much to care.

However, there has never been a concrete way of reinforcing the right kind of behavior. Sure you get a ribbon, but that loses its novelty after a hand full of games. I would honestly like to see some sort of system in play that would motivate the community towards a more positive future.

@Jesias Tribunal Already considers your honorable status before making any decisions. You cannot get a "Full" Pardon, unless the community claims it. Overall the community vote is extremely well thought at. Not everyone just simply clicks Punish over and over and over. Majority of the players do indeed read over the cases.

Your other thoughts are great, 3%-5% does seem fair, and the fact that more than just two of us agree is more likely favorable enough to have reason to do this. I'm still hoping that Riot feels the need to respond to this to at least give some insight on their thoughts and if its ever a possible to do something more.

Not sure if Lyte is still around or not, but they were the one's posting on the Old Forums the Compete with Honor. Maybe he/she would look at this as well? They did Encourage other people to discuss and promote idea's on how to improve the honor System. Anything to decrease toxic players would benefit Riot. People would feel less incline to quit the game if the community was more enjoyable.

Again, I would like to thank everyone's support and idea's on this post, remember to continue to Vote up so this stays alive!!
