A Good Thread Vs A Bad Thread - What can you do to make a good one?

Hello, so I wanted to dump some thoughts down. This has been on my mind for awhile. I wanted to get it off with a post. So what is a good thread and a bad thread? A good thread is one where discussion can be made/had. A bad thread is pretty much the opposite... Where a discussion cannot be made at all. Essentially just a thread clogging up the forums. Bad threads turn into more like a post instead of a thread.

Now let's go into depth about good and bad threads. (Not trying to witchhunt anyone with this)

Good Threads: Example of a good thread: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/champions-skins/OUNqxF0c-favorite-skins This thread creates discussion. Where it can expend and be huge. Let's look at what makes it good thread though: Title introduces the discussion clearly. The op has something to introduce the topic at hand and to allow other people into the discussion. It's clear what the topic is.

You may be like: "Well that is an easy thread to make." -- Yes it is. Which makes it a great example.

Bad Threads: Example of a bad thread: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/live-gameplay/7RG60JN1-gragas This thread does not create discussion what so ever. Lets take a look at this: The title is all right, but could have been improved upon. Maybe something like "Let's talk about Gragas's power level." since the discussion the op is trying to make is about Gragas's Power. Now let's continue. the execution of the thread does not introduce any discussion and is harder for someone else to join the discussion. This thread can be turned into a good one, however the execution of the thread was poorly done.

So let's go into what you can do to make a good thread:

-Make sure you have a title that gets to the point. If you have your title as "League of Legends" People will see it and be like "What about it" When making a title it's important that it's as clear as possible to what you want to discuss. -A good introduction, you want to make it feel like an actual discussion, so introductions are very good to have.(You can see many Rioters doing this: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/live-gameplay/xAQdUGK8-statikk-qa-begins-july-21st-but-submit-your-questions-now) -A way to allow people to join the discussion. A common one is "What are you thoughts?" or "Thoughts?" This allows people to join in the discussion easily.

Well that was my thoughts on good threads vs bad threads. What do you guys think about it? Hope you're not tired from reading this wall.

This is a bad thread, cause i don't know what to answer... It's not really initiating a discussion. But then again, you teached me how to recognize bad threads, so this must be a good thread

I'm confused, this is a confusing thread

I don't think I've made many good threads, but I don't think mine have been terrible. I usually make threads asking about a particular/specific aspect of the game, so it's natural that I won't get wide appeal, but I do my best with a lot of threads to have some aspect that can be more relatable to a wider audience. A popular thread either needs a really good idea that a lot of people can get behind, or is just something that everyone can participate in, and needs to be clear and understandable. A poorly written thread is usually just that. I see a lot of threads like the example you gave where I read it, and just don't understand what OP was trying to do, so I just ignore it and move on.
