Supports are weirdly nice

How do you all do it? Just sit there and be sunshine and rainbows for entirety of the match even when you have a shit adc along with a jungler who doesn't gank. What is your secret?

We remember that we have the option to let our ADC live or die.

It gives us joy.

Support items come with a prescription of zoloft.

DST. They have to be.

You're the support. You're not going to hypercarry.

Ride the nearest D and raise those egos enough to get you that win.

I think that those of us who frequently play support are naturally optimistic people. Think about the amount of trust we're placing in our team mates. A good support is a force multiplier but there must be force there to multiply in the first place! If team mates are bickering or somebody is on tilt, the support champ's raw material is absent. On the other hand, because supports know they can't carry by themselves, the connections that result in victories are more clear to us. We know how rare it is for a single player to carry by themselves. Somebody's providing peels, buffs, distractions, split-pushes, vision, etc. Being cheerful and encouraging helps to ensure that those connections are intact so that even if the adc is mediocre, the team is still functioning effectively as possible as a unit.

For me it comes down to loving the game. I enjoy every game, win or lose. I relish the individual encounters. Every trade, every team fight, is a chance to either make plays, learn something new, or both!

Staying positive and being encouraging makes the game more enjoyable for everyone. I often get in trouble for it with my team, but I like to call out amazing plays the enemy team makes as well. Because at the end of the day, it's just 10 people that love the game sharing an hour together. It's just chance that you are on that team and I am on this one :)

To me, it comes down to the champion itself and how I play them.

When I play Karma for example, I play to ensure the safety of my teammates and widdle down the enemy's health. If I see an opportunity to root someone down, then I will. Nothing gives me more joy than R-Q-ing someone who thinks they are safe under their turret only to hear "An Enemy has been Slain" and also when I shield an ally and they make it out of danger. During these types of situations I know I have down my part as a good Support and that I am doing it properly.

When I play Taric I do it to Tank everything up while also stunning and healing. Taric is so versatile and his tankiness makes him a beast in lane and in team fights. It makes me feel good when I'm in a team fight and I get hit with everything only to see my allies also walk away with health begging to be healed. I've stunned the right targets, I've taken the damage, I have survived, and now I can heal and help even more. It also brings a smile on my face when enemys try to initiate on my team only for me to stun them or their ADCs, thus stalling any sort of damage or fight.

Most recently, when I play TahmKench I do it cause I know he can help him teammates to a great extent. He can keep them safe by eating them, he can take hits and recover, he can also stun enemies and create opportunities for his allies to jump on people. His ult makes him great at scaring the crap out of enemies and nothing has brought me more satisfaction than having been in a team fight where only the enemy Thresh survived and ran away only to ult myself and our Azir into their base only to one shot Thresh, ace, and win the game. My stomach still hurts from that game.

To play the Support role is to understand your champion and to know what you can do to help. It is a playing style that asks you to look at situations from every possible outcome and to jump on them to make plays. Yes I sometimes get into games with terrible people, but while you have no control over their actions, you have full control of yourself and your character so you also have the power to make some great plays.

Graves omfg this Soraka is terrible! Soraka immediately pings omw and goes to the struggling top lane without a word Graves omfg Irelia stop feeding "An enemy has been slain!" "Double kill!" Irelia Wow, thanks Soraka! Really needed that! Sejuani Wow, it's like there's a second jungler on the team! Graves wtf where's my support Soraka Suck my banana.

My secret is secretly not giving a f* and deciding who lives and who dies on my team.

How do I do it?

I might start off by calling everyone a $, mute their $es, and do my job.

Dear ADCs, You are all basic and boring. If you're going to toxic, get a better line than, 'go kill yourself.' This isn't Little League anymore.
