I am sick of people misusing this term. I'm sure yall heard of salty dogs and such. Gangplank Salty is an old term that has been used in the fleet for centuries.

The actual and original definition of salty is an experienced or well-worn person or object, from the salt that would accumulate after long-term exposure to salt water.

And it is most commonly used in the Marines and Navy to describe a veteran.

Salty does NOT mean someone angry maybe at the worst it could be a disgruntled veteran of said game but not someone angry.

It also means there is an abundance of NaCl in the dish you are eating

The salty term as we know it came from the fighting game community.

It originated from being a baby and getting upset over a loss, crying salty tears.

Interesting, I always thought it was a reference to "swearing like a sailor", which isn't usually done when of a calm state of mind.

Similar to how trolling has nothing to do with the mythical creature it's possible the commonly used definition came out of something else.

In the gaming community it obviously has a different meaning and at this point is not considered to be "misused" when talking about an angry player.
